The devoted mum-of-two was a popular member of staff at Hibernian Football Club where she was employed as a matchday receptionist and ran her own successful business Scent With Love.

Stephanie, from Edinburgh, was also a talented singer and played hundreds of concerts in venues across the capital and regularly streamed her performances on social media.

She impressed X Factor judges Cheryl and Simon with her audition for the TV talent show in front of 5,000 people at Wembley Arena in 2015.

But despite being told she had passed the boot camp stage, producers later let her down after admitting she was acting too much.

Hundreds of emotional tributes from family and friends – including one from Hibernian FC’s employers – poured in after the shock news of her death this week.

Stephanie’s devastated mother Julie Reid posted on social media: “Yesterday morning my world came crashing down around me along with a broken heart shattered into a million pieces that can never be mended.

“Heartbreak is nowhere near what I’ve felt since my beautiful precious soul girl so suddenly received her angel wings.

“I never thought I would have to write a post like this. My precious baby girl, mommy doesn’t know how to go on without you, but I will do my best for your two beautiful babies and I will love and care for them like you did with every bone in your body.

A family member said: “I can’t put into words how heartbroken I am to lose my beautiful cousin yesterday.

“I hope you know how much so many people loved you, that you were the life and soul of the party.

“Life will never be the same without you, but we will all do our best for your beautiful children.

“I love you always. I can’t put into words how heartbroken I am to lose my beautiful cousin yesterday.”

And a longtime friend added: “From childhood to a friend in adulthood [and] family I really have no words to express how heartbroken I am. You left this world too soon and got angel wings.

“Sending all my love to your mom and all your family. Live each day like it’s your last because you really don’t know when your time is up – life is so precious.”

A spokesman for Hibernian FC said: “Everyone at Hibernian FC is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Stephanie Reid.

“Stephanie was a valued member of the Hibernian FC team on match day and was always cheerful, friendly and helpful.

“She will be greatly missed and the thoughts of everyone at the football club are with her family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”
