Xochitl Gomez Injured Rehearsing DWTS Gwen Stefani Routine: ‘This Shiiii Is Bananas!’

Xochitl Gomez isn’t letting a sprained ankle stop her from competing Dancing with the stars.

A day before the show’s Music Video Night, the 17-year-old actress shared a rehearsal video on TikTok in which she landed on her ankle after performing a circuit.

The Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star captioned “She messed up” at the top of the clip, in which she wore a blonde wig for her jazz rendition of Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl.”

“This shiiii is BANANA! 🙈😭🤪 I’m fine! A little sprained but WE’RE WORKING! #teamxv #dwts #teamyoungnstyle,” she captioned the video.

Gomez assured fans in the comments section that she still plans to perform on Tuesday.

“I’m fine!! I’ll be there tomorrow and we’ll play! 🤑,” she shared. “I just got an x-ray. No debris, no breakage, just a little sprain 🙈😅”

Gomez DWTS partner Val Chmerkovskiy reposted the video on his Instagram Story, adding, “Because things were going really well,” along with a crying emoji.

Last week, Gomez told PEOPLE that she also scraped her knee at the altar during a performance of Ruelle’s “Game of Survival.”

When asked how she is dealing with the injury, Gomez replied: “I think it’s just my mentality. That’s the same mentality I have through rehearsals. It’s like, it doesn’t matter, you can always come for a massage, you always figure it out later. Only what is important at this moment is important.”

Despite her injury, judge Bruno Tonioli praised her for “creating a monster” during her dance, while Carrie Ann Inaba praised the actress’ “storytelling” ability. “It was really powerful … you were like an airman,” she said.

Derek Hough said the Marvel star sent “shivers down my spine” and called her routine “amazing”.

She and Chmerkovskiy, 37, scored bonus points as winners of tonight’s Dance Monster-Thon competition.
