You can easily access Yahoo mails even when you’re out and about and don’t have a laptop or computer with you. Do you know how? The Yahoo app for Android is the answer. If you own an Android phone, you can easily use the built-in Mail app or the Android app to access your Yahoo Mail account.
Yahoo Mail app for Android
Before you can use it, you need to install the Yahoo app from the Google Play Store as follows:
- Go to the Google Play Store app on your Android device.
- Type Yahoo in the search box and hit enter.
- Open the official Yahoo Mail and press ‘Install’.
- The app will begin to install and will open when the installation is complete.
Once you’ve installed the app, here’s how to set up your Yahoo for Android account:
- Touch the Yahoo app installed on your phone to open it. You will see the following login screen. Tap ‘Sign in with Yahoo’ to start setup.
- Enter the username, email address or mobile phone number associated with your Yahoo account and press ‘Next’.
- Then enter your password and press ‘Next’.
- From then on, you will be able to use your Yahoo account.

You can even use the Mail app provided by Android to access and use your Yahoo email account. That is how:
- Open the Mail app on your Android device.
- Tap “Yahoo” from the available options.
- Enter the username and password associated with your Yahoo account and press ‘Login’. You will be logged into your Yahoo Mail account.
- If you are unable to log in, select the ‘Manual Settings’ option and you will be prompted to enter the correct settings.
- Enter the necessary IMAP and POP settings for your account and the account setup is complete.
Adding a mailbox to the Yahoo Mail app
You can even add other email accounts like Google, Outlook, Yahoo, or AOL to the Yahoo Mail app by doing the following:
- Open the Yahoo Mail app and tap on the profile icon displayed on the top left corner of the screen.
- A side menu will appear with options available in settings, tap ‘+ Add another mailbox’.
- Choose Gmail, Outlook, AOL, or Yahoo, enter your email address, and follow the instructions.
- After that, tap on the ‘Profile’ icon to see your Yahoo account and the new mailbox below.
Some of the ways to use the Yahoo Mail app
Yahoo Mail app is really useful and can be used for various purposes. You can switch between different accounts and in addition to this,
- You can swipe right to mark an email as unread.
- Swipe left on an email to delete or archive it.
- You can use the icons at the bottom of the email to filter your view between Unread, Announcements, Starred, People, Emails with attachments, etc.
- To compose a new email, tap the pencil icon in the top right corner.
- To delete an email, tap the email and tap “Trash” or “Archive” displayed at the bottom. You can even move the email, forward it, or mark it as spam using the icons provided.
