Yoo Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook is a well-known and respected talk show, it will record its last episode on July 19 and will air on July 22, 2022. The show’s host, Antenna Music founder Yoo Hee-yeol and KBS announced his death after 13 years of service the Korean music business. The last show, number 600, will bid viewers farewell.
The announcement comes just weeks after the iconic 51-year-old singer was embroiled in a plagiarism scandal. He was accused of plagiarizing Japanese artist Ryuichi Sakamoto’s Aqua for Very Personal, one of his recent piano project series songs.
A few days after the incident broke out, Yoo Hee-yeol apologized for the unintentional plagiarism. Despite the fact that the Japanese singer issued an official statement stating that the Korean star did not plagiarize his work, Yoo Hee-yeol decided to leave the program and “take time to think” about himself.

Yoo Hee-Sketchbook, yeol’s legendary talk show, will record its final episode on July 19.
Yoo Hee-Sketchbook yeol debuted in 2009, more than ten years ago. The program is a combination of music and chat show, with 3-4 guests, mostly musicians, appearing in each episode. The musicians chat with a diverse host while belting out their tunes. For Korean artists, the event has become a rite of passage. Yoo Hee-yeol announced the end of the talk show Sketchbook after 13 years on the air. In a personal letter, the singer addressed the controversy and stated that he would like to take a break after suffering a setback in his decades-long career. An excerpt from his letter reads as follows:
“I looked back at myself for the first time after watching the influx of cases.” The saddest thing I heard was that the time that had passed seemed to be withheld. It’s to the point that I can’t understand how hard the feeling of loss is.
There is one aspect of the recent plagiarism claims that I disagree with. Many of the claims may be personal opinions and interpretations, but I find it hard to believe them. I will take better care of myself so that this situation does not happen again.”
He thanked the fans and employees of the show for the pleasure and effort during 13 years and three months of broadcasting.
He also said that he intends to wrap up the final filming of Yoo Hee-Sketchbook yeol’s as soon as possible to minimize any potential damage to the beloved program. He apologized and bowed at the end of the letter.
“We want to complete final filming this week to minimize impact on the program and production crew.” I will do everything in my power [complete] my remaining tasks to avoid further damage. Without looking back, I will take the opportunity to reflect on where I am now and what remains to be done. Once again, I apologize for causing anxiety to all music lovers. In the end, I bow my head in gratitude to everyone who has trusted me and valued me for so long.”
The KBS production team also released a statement saying that Yoo Hee-Sketchbook cheol’s final episode will air on July 22, 2022. They also praised fans for their unwavering support of Yoo Hee-Sketchbook yeol’s over the past 13 years.
