Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers uploaded this head-scratching optical illusion and asked Facebook followers to spot the crafty creature.
“Spot the Snake Sunday is back! Everyone’s favorite and sometimes frustrating game is back and ready for you to try. I think this one’s pretty easy…” spotters announced. Australian snakes.
“You’re kidding, aren’t you?” one user joked.
“I can’t find it so it must be an invisible snake,” another quipped.
But look a little closer and you’ll find the deadly animal curled up on a tree branch in the upper left corner of the image.
Meanwhile, readers are told they get loser-focused vision if they can spot a camouflaged slippery snake on the forest floor.
A crafty copperhead has left social media users scratching their heads after being baffled by the riddle.
The image shows an innocent-seeming pile of fallen beige leaves on the forest floor.
But the seemingly ordinary image turned out to be a clear warning to nature lovers to watch their every step while exploring.
The deadly snake proved to be a master of disguise by completely hiding in the undergrowth.
The image made some people worry about their eyesight because they couldn’t locate it after a few minutes.
Most social media users admitted that they had to look at the comments section to find out where the snake was lurking.
One Reddit user quipped: “Either there’s nothing there or I’m dead from stepping on it.”
Another wrote: “I’ve seen this photo posted before, I knew exactly what to look for and didn’t know where to look for it…it still took me a minute to search before I found it.”
And the third chimed in: “I had to scan the whole damn image like I was looking at a slide under a microscope. Only then.”
But other eagle-eyed users claimed to have won the puzzle.
One commented: “Center of photo, just below center. Copper snake.
“That he’s so scared that he blends in perfectly with the forest floor and has deadly defense mechanisms.”
Another user said: “Right in the middle, you should see a triangle pattern that stands out a bit.
“It’s small, but it shows when you get to know the pattern and the slightly lighter color.”
Copperheads get their unusual name from their bronze-colored head and can grow up to four feet long.
The species can deliver an extremely painful bite, but it is almost never fatal to humans.
They give no warning signals and attack almost immediately if threatened.
They have hemotoxic venom, which means that a copperhead bite causes temporary tissue damage in the immediate area of the bite.
Copperheads are the most common snake species in the United States.
