New details have been revealed surrounding the recent arrest of Zach Bryan.
After the country star, 27, was arrested for obstructing an investigation in his home state of Oklahoma on Thursday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol detailed what happened during the ordeal in a probable cause affidavit.
According to a document from the department — obtained by multiple media outlets, including NBC News and The New York Times — Bryan was arrested for obstructing the traffic of his speeding security guard.
The I Remember Everything singer, who has since apologized multiple times for his arrest, was taken into custody in the town of Vinita and charged with a misdemeanor after his black Ram pulled up next to his security guard during a traffic stop, the affidavit said, according to outlets.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for a probable cause affidavit.

During the stop, Bryan allegedly exited his vehicle to ask why the stop was taking so long and ignored the officer’s request to get back inside, according to the affidavit, media outlets said. Bryan also stated, “I’m going to jail. Let’s do it,” claiming his situation is why “people don’t like cops,” the document added, according to NBC News and times.
Bryan also allegedly told the officer that the police were “out of control” and said it “would be a mistake” not to remove his handcuffs. The statement added that the singer was “clearly bitter and argumentative,” according to media reports.
Citing the document, NBC News noted that Bryan was pulled over by security at 5:40 p.m. local time for going 78 mph in a 55 mph zone, and 60 mph in a 35 mph zone. Surveillance footage shared by the newspaper shows the country star talking to officers before getting into a police vehicle.
Bryan was eventually released on $1,000 bail after being booked into the Craig County Jail, according to the outlet.

Bryan — who currently has the No. 1 song on Board Hot 100 with Kacey Musgraves, as well as a No. 1 album on the Board 200 album chart — opened up about his arrest in a social media video explaining his actions.
“I want to start by saying — I have to address the legality of it. I was in jail. They weren’t playing favorites and I was an idiot today. My decisions didn’t reflect who I was as a person, and I just want to make that clear. I should have been smarter about that,” Bryan said.
He added that just a few days earlier he had been driving “four or five” miles per hour over the speed limit when he was pulled over and asked to give his address, although he said he refused to do so.
Bryan said he then explained to the officer why he was scared and was then released from the handcuffs. “He gave me a warning because, I mean, I wasn’t going too fast or anything, and then he let me go because I just started respecting him and being cordial,” Bryan said.
“But I think it frustrated me a lot because I didn’t know if I had the right to refuse to give him my address or not, but I did,” he added.

During Thursday’s arrest, Bryan said he was headed to Boston for a sports game when his bodyguard stopped him. He explained that he waited about “10 or 15 minutes” before leaving the car to see what was “taking so long” and to “smoke a cigarette”.
“The officer came up to me and said, ‘Sir, get back in your vehicle,’ and I said, ‘I’m not the one they’re going to pull over.’ He said, ‘Get back in your vehicle or I’m going to have to take you to jail,’ and I, like a dumbass, said, ‘Take me to fucking jail? What do you mean?’ And he said, ‘He’s taking you to jail,’ and I said, ‘Damn,'” he said in a video on social media.
Bryan then explained that he was “too easy” on the authorities and that he was “immature” and “disrespectful”. He was eventually taken to jail “for a few hours,” Bryan said.
“I was just an idiot and I will take the blame. I’m a grown man and I shouldn’t have behaved like that and it won’t happen again,” he continued. “I love you guys. Thanks for defending me online and stuff. I don’t need it. I just shouldn’t have done what I did.”
