Zakir Khan is an Indian musician, stand-up comedian, author, poet and YouTuber. He came into limelight in 2012 after he won Comedy Central’s ‘Best Stand-up Comedian in India’ competition. He is one of India’s most popular stand-up comedians.

Zakir Khan was born on Thursday, August 20, 1987, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh (age 32, 2019). His zodiac sign is Leo. His family originates from Rajasthan.
He studied at St. Paul’s High School, Indore. After completing his studies, Zakir enrolled in B.Com but dropped out. Sharing the incident, Zakir said,
Yaar, my college is Matlab Nahi tha. Class buzz attend karte nahi the, aur Degree se jyada apni khwahisho se pyaar tha. “
Zakir was born into a musical family and became interested in music at an early age. He studied music under the tutelage of his father and grandfather. After dropping out of college, Zakir pursued a sitar diploma. He wanted to become a radio producer and for that he moved to Delhi. There, he did a radio program at ARSL for a year before moving to Jaipur in 2009 for an internship. After his internship, Zakir returned to Delhi.

Zakir Khan was born into a Muslim family. His father Ismail Khan was a music teacher at St Raphael School in Indore. His mother Kulsum Khan was a housewife. He has two brothers, Zeeshan Khan (lead singer of Malang band) and Arbaz Khan (student). He is the grandson of veteran Indian classical instrumentalist and singer Ustad Moinuddin Khan.
Profession
While in Delhi, Zakir tried his hand at different fields from theater to radio. Eventually, he worked at HT Media Ltd as a copywriter and lead researcher for about 4 years. Later, his roommate Vishwas encouraged him to do open mics. Slowly he started performing in cafes and people started liking his jokes. Gradually, his performances began to receive standing ovations. He was then called to Mumbai to write a script for a news comedy show, On Air With AIB.
Zakir rose to fame in 2012 when he was named India’s Best Stand-up Comedian by Comedy Central. He was praised for his comedy style in NDTV Prime’s ‘Comedy Stars’. Later, he became popular for his quip “Sakht Launda”, meaning a man with great self-control who is not easily manipulated by beautiful, cunning girls.
In 2015, he created and co-hosted the news comedy show “On Air with AIB.” The show airs on Star World India. Some of his popular comedy shows include Trading Post (2014), Promising Game (2017), Haq Se Single (2017), and Chacha Vidhayak Hain Hamare (2018).
In September 2017, Zakir served as a mentor in the fifth season of India Laughter Challenge, judged by Akshay Kumar. He also appeared as one of the judges on Amazon Prime’s “Comicstaan Season 2.”
He even co-hosted the 5th Annual Golden Kara Awards along with other famous comedians like Vir Das and Papa CJ.

- While in Jaipur, Zakir did some odd jobs to meet his daily expenses.

Kapil Sharma’s comedy is based on insulting people. It’s very Punjabi. Tu mota hai, tu kaala hai, tere daant kharab hain – that’s their joke, but I don’t find it funny. ”
