Zendaya Makes $100,000 Donation to Bay Area Theater Where She Got Her Start

Zendaya proves she’s never forgotten where she came from.

Tuesday, Euphoria star, 27, teamed up with the Women’s Donor Network to donate $100,000 to the place where her acting career began — the California Shakespeare Theater in Oakland, California. The theater announced the donation to their North Star Fund, which helps with improvements and future shows, according to their website.

“We are very pleased to offer this grant for general support in partnership with Zendaya,” Leena Barakat, president and CEO of the Women’s Donor Network (WDN), wrote in a statement. “We hope our funding supports your work and helps advance your strategic vision, wherever funding is most needed.”

Clive Worsley, the theatre’s chief executive, also thanked Zendaya for paying it forward.

“We are deeply grateful to Zendaya and WDN for their partnership and their generous donation of $100,000 to the North Star Fund,” Worsley wrote in a statement. “This gift helps keep the Cal Shakes strong as we prepare for our 50th anniversary season!”

The theater was founded in 1974 and is especially popular during the summer season, when audiences gather in the Bruns outdoor amphitheater. According to San Francisco ChronicleZendaya joined the theater because her mother worked there for 12 summers when she Dina: The second part the star was a child.

The actress is currently promoting Dina: The second part, and the latest trailer for challengers, recently it also fell. Zendaya’s boyfriend, Tom Holland, supported his girlfriend by sharing the trailer on his Instagram story on Wednesday.

“You’re not ready for this!” he captioned the post.

Her past major credits include the role of Michelle Jones in Spider man franchise and lead actress in HBO Euphoria.
