Reality star Amy Slaton is facing drug and child endangerment charges after she was arrested at a Tennessee zoo.
On Monday, Sept. 2, the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department responded to calls of a guest who had reportedly been bitten by a camel at the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo, officials confirmed in a Facebook post.
“Upon arrival, deputies were immediately struck by suspicious odors coming from the guest’s vehicle,” the announcement reads.
Slaton — who starred on TLC 1000 lbs. Sisters from the January 2020 premiere — and Brian Scott Lovvorn were arrested and are facing charges of unlawful possession of schedule I, unlawful possession of schedule IV and two counts of child endangerment, per the release.

Lovvorn, who was in the same vehicle as Slaton, faces the same charges, and both are being held in the Crockett County Jail.
Authorities did not identify who was bitten or provide any additional information about the injuries sustained from the alleged camel bite.

“The allegations and allegations contained in this release are only allegations of criminal conduct and not evidence,” the sheriff’s department added in a release. “The accused is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted in a process of law.”
It was a tumultuous time for Slaton. In March 2023, it was announced that her husband of four years, Michael Halterman — with whom she shares sons Gage Deon, 4, and Glenn Allen, 2 — had filed for divorce.

While talking about parenthood after the birth of their son Glenn during a 2023 episode of the hit TLC reality series, Slaton said, “My heart is full,” adding, “Being a mom is what I’ve wanted to do since I was 5 years old and I’ve always wanted to two children. Now we can be framed and hung on the wall.”

In December 2023, Slaton spoke with PEOPLE about prioritizing her mental health and parenting her two sons after her divorce.
After a difficult year, she said at the time that her mental health was “the worst in her life”.
“And it didn’t just affect me, it affected Gage and Glenn as well. So it was just rough,” admitted Slaton.
