1000-Lb. Sisters’ Tammy Slaton Visits the Beach for the First Time Ever: ‘I Made It’ (Exclusive)

Tammy Slaton reaches an exciting milestone as she continues her weight loss journey.

In an exclusive PEOPLE clip from Tuesday’s episode 1000 lbs. Sisters, the 37-year-old went on a trip to Pensacola, Florida with her siblings Amy, Chris, Amanda and Misty. While there, Tammy was able to visit the beach for the first time.

“I’m so happy with how well I did and I was able to go to the beach, but I still can’t walk very well and the sand is loose,” she says. “So Chris got me a wheelchair for the beach. I’m not trying to fall on my ass.”

“Your carriage is waiting,” Chris says as Tammy approaches her wheelchair, which has large wheels suitable for sand.

In the video, Tammy struggles to get into a wheelchair for several minutes. She gets frustrated and scared, needs Misty to help her lift her leg over the bar and onto the seat, but she finally makes it to the sand.

“It’s hard to sit in that wheelchair. I feel like it’s going to roll over on me. I’m afraid of that,” says Tammy. “If I fall, it could be really bad because I can’t get up.”

“Me and Misty can make Tammy squirm in the chair,” Chris adds. “In the past, Tammy wouldn’t have been in that wheelchair at all. So for her, even continuing with the thought of using a chair to get to water is a success.”

“Tammy, I’m so proud of you for making it here,” she tells her sister.

The siblings placed their belongings near the water so that Tammy could walk to the water without much trouble. While in her wheelchair, she bent down and touched the sand for the first time, getting emotional about the trip to the beach.

“The beach is beautiful,” says Tammy. “The way people talk about the beach and how they paint it and show it on TV is wonderful. But it’s nothing like seeing it in person.”
