A teenager has died in Texas after being hit by a semi truck while getting off a school bus.
The 15-year-old had just gotten off a Livingston ISD bus on US Route 59 Thursday when the fatal crash occurred, according to Texas Department of Public Safety.
Officials said the bus was stopped when the truck rear-ended a Toyota that was driving behind the bus and then veered into the driveway where the teenager was exiting the bus, ABC affiliate KTRK-TV and CBS affiliate KHOU-TV reported and.
The teenager, whose name has not been released, died at the scene.

The bus’s flashing red signal was not off when the crash occurred, according to KHOU-TV Fort Worth Star Telegram.
Neither the driver of the truck nor the driver of the Toyota was injured in the crash, according to ABC affiliate KTRE.
The driver of the truck, 41-year-old Gregory Jackson, was arrested and charged with felony negligent homicide, according to Polk County jail records seen by PEOPLE. His bail was set at $250,000.

Livingston ISD confirmed in a statement that the victim was a student who attended school in the district.
“It’s sad when our district loses a family member,” the district said, per KTRK-TV and FOX affiliate KRIV. “It’s even more tragic when such a young life is taken from us.”
The district also expressed its condolences to the victim’s family and friends. The counseling center is available to the needy, they add.

“At times like these, we are reminded how precious life can be and how fragile each life truly is,” the district said.
Livingston ISD and the Texas Department of Safety did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s requests for comment.
