Mahmoud Sherbiny arrived in America 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After!

The eighth season of the TLC spinoff series premiered Sunday night, giving fans big news about Nicole and Mahmoud Sherbiny’s marriage — and their decision to bring their relationship back to Nicole’s Los Angeles home.

Mahmoud, 31, was just a day away from arriving when the episode began. Viewers saw Nicole, 40, buying pajamas for her husband, revealing to the seller that he usually sleeps in “street clothes” or jeans.

Long-time viewers know that Nicole and Mahmoud are familiar with clothing conflicts. Nicole previously lived in Egypt with her husband and his family, although she found that her independence was stifled by the strict restrictions of their culture. Nicole often cried because of their seemingly constant disagreements over dress and how Mahmoud’s family even questioned her choice not to wear the hijab.

Summarizing their relationship, Nicole admitted that “sometimes love is not enough.”

“For the last four years, I have been trying to live there, assimilate and make life in Egypt work,” she said in front of the cameras. “But I just couldn’t, so I had to go back to the United States. For me, living as an Egyptian woman was a big challenge because there were a lot of rules in an Islamic marriage – a lot of rules. Very strict rules.”

Back in America, the fashion-forward Nicole may still adhere to Mahmoud’s Muslim preferences, but the confessional interviews in the first episode showed Nicole in a crop top with an eye cut out — seemingly challenging her husband’s former preferences.
