King Charles is focused on his health after being diagnosed with cancer.
After undergoing a procedure to treat an enlarged prostate in January, Buckingham Palace revealed the king had cancer on February 5.
“During the King’s recent hospital procedure for a benign prostate enlargement, a particular issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests identified a form of cancer,” the palace said in a statement.
The statement added that King Charles “has begun a schedule of regular treatments” and will therefore postpone his public duties for the time being.
The medical diagnosis comes after his daughter-in-law Kate Middleton underwent abdominal surgery, which will also keep him out of the public eye for the coming months. She underwent surgery on January 16 and was later discharged to her home in Windsor on January 29, where she has been recovering.
