The power of women supporting women played out on college fields this weekend.
That’s exactly what happened at the Ole Miss vs. South Carolina women’s basketball game on Feb. 4 when the women got a little physical on the court and one of the Ole Miss Rebels found herself stretched out on the floor. When she fell to the floor, her wig flew off her head, and the other women on the court immediately surrounded her to fix it before she could continue playing.
The video was split on X (formerly Twitter) right after Ole Miss’ Marquesha Davis took the floor and has more than 3 million views from women advocating for the players to put the game aside to help their loved ones. South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley even called out moments after the game, corresponding to the viral moment and praise for both teams for the way they behaved.
Staley wrote on X: “This warms my heart! My @GamecockWBB babies met this moment with the kindness and understanding I see every day. @OleMissWBB all united in arms. This is WBB at its best. I love this! WE WE ARE WBB!!!”

Several responses to Xu’s original video also noted that the cameras caught a sweet moment in which the players gathered around Davis as she fixed her hair, but then panned to capture the crowd, players on the bench and coaches, instead of continuing to capture what was happening on the field — giving everyone privacy.
Several responses gushed about the maturity of the female players and more than a few said it was nice to see a sisterhood among women.

After the hair mishap, both teams laughed and returned to the field. Although the Rebels battled, they couldn’t beat the undefeated Gamecocks and ended up losing 85-56.
