Humans and dogs form strong friendships around the world. Dogs’ true nobility and loyalty shine through when they don’t even get a chance to show it.
A stray dog is waiting for someone to show his love and care. He was in bad shape and had no name, but he still hoped that someone would save him.
One day someone was traveling with three Humvees and they stopped in the desert where the dog was. A Marine named Major Brian Dennis saw the dog and approached it.
The dog gained the dog’s trust and shared the food with a hungry dog he named Nubs.
When he met him, he just jumped up and they started playing together. When they first met, he just passed by.
The man started rubbing his stomach. Really, the entire crew of the man was attached to him when they met him.
The dog was cured and for the first time in his life had a warm bed, meals and love. He loved the major, but fate had other plans for them. Major Dennis had to move to a new outpost and Nubs was not allowed to go with him.
The situation did not stop the loyal Nubs from pursuing his marines. Although it was very cold, Nubs followed his Humvee 75 miles across the desert, deciding to stay with Major Dennis. How the dog did it is a mystery.
In March 2008, Nubs flew to her new permanent home. Dennis followed up a month later. Nubs died in the meantime, but his mysterious story about the importance of saving these dogs’ lives even has a book written about him, Nubs, the true story of a mutt, a marine and a miracle.
