Jon Pardi and his wife Summer Duncan met under the most unlikely of circumstances. Before they met, the couple went through a series of bad relationships and failed dates. Duncan approached their first meeting with a healthy dose of skepticism, even bringing along a friend in case things went wrong. But everything turned out perfectly and they quickly realized that they were meant to be together.

In May 2017, Pardi and Duncan were engrossed in their respective professions. They had a lot of awkward meetings. He was on tour, and she was working as a hairdresser and pleasing customers, which she had been doing for ten years at that time. However, they did not lose their love. So when one of Duncan’s customers tried to hook her up with someone she “knew well,” she agreed without question. “I’ve been a hairstylist for 13 years, and you become family with your clients, so they know all the good, the horrible, and the ugly about your life,” Duncan recalled to People in November 2020 when her client, Ellen Moxley, set her up with the mysterious a person.
Unbeknownst to Duncan, Moxley had known Pardi’s mother for a long time and he was the person she intended to open a hair salon with. Duncan knew little about Pardi except that he was tall and that he was a family acquaintance from California.
Soon after, Pardi’s mother sent him her phone number, and he called her to invite her to one of his shows in her hometown. She declined his initial invitation in Las Vegas, claiming she would definitely come the next time he was in town. In a hurry, Pardi made another proposal. “How about I take you to Denver next week?” he said, and she agreed after being pressured by her friends. They assured her that she had nothing to lose. So she accepted, but brought a friend with her in case it didn’t work out with Pardi.

Both were charmed five minutes into the first discussion. “For the first time in my life, Summer was love at first sight,” said Pardi about the moment he met her. Duncan felt the same. “For me, the game was over in the first five minutes after meeting Jon. ‘Sell my home, sell my vehicle, send my dog,’ I texted my mother. ‘She laughed. She worked for a week and then traveled to join him on tour for the next six months. Before she met him, she never wanted to move, but after a six-month courtship, they settled in Nashville.

They got engaged in October 2019 after two and a half years of dating and going through a rough year when his job suddenly ended. He proposed to her in a style the couple might have found nostalgic. He was on the Heartache Medication Tour, and on October 2, 2019, he performed at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. That place was one of their first dates. After revealing said reality to the audience, Pardi got down on one knee and proposed to Duncan as the audience applauded. When she agreed, they hugged and kissed, and the countdown to their wedding began. But there are difficulties.
If it weren’t for the pandemic and the lockdown, they were going to get married over Memorial Day weekend in Montana 2020. They settled on a date in November 2020 where only those closest to them would be present after much planning and re-planning. So Pardi and Duncan will get married on November 21, 2020 at Saddle Woods Farm in Tennessee. Vacation was out of the question, but in the future they intended to organize a grander wedding celebration.
