A Rose Ceremony Shocker Leaves a Forfeited Rose on the Table as Bachelor in Paradise Season 9 Nears Its End

On Thursday’s episode of ‘Bachelor in Paradise,’ the singles weighed whether their relationship could last beyond the beach as their engagement approaches

After Katie Thurston arrived in Mexico, Blake Moynes decided on Thursday Bachelor in Paradise not to move forward with Jess Giroda.

“I had much, much, much less time with her, but we were able to accomplish so much more,” Blake, 32, told Jess, 24, of his ex-fiancée, also 32.

Blake felt that he and Jess had been “going around in circles” with their relationship. “All indications are that as much as we want this to work, it won’t,” Blake continued.

Jess admitted that she wanted to be “hopelessly in love” by this point in the show, but she didn’t feel that way about Blake. “I thought things would look different,” she told Blake. “I’m not here.”

Jess admitted that there was “some truth” in Blake’s assessment of their relationship and agreed to part ways.

“He was all in and I wasn’t,” Jess said in an on-camera interview.

With that, Blake decided to leave Paradise, but Kylee Russell ran after him.

“I feel like you give up easily,” Kylee, 25, told Blake.

Blake disagreed. “I know when something isn’t working,” Kylee said.

Blake continued to walk out, feeling down. “At this point I feel like I’ve tried everything,” he told the cameras. “I tried three times and failed.”

MORE COUPLES DECIDE ON THEIR DESTINY

After a note appeared in the Box of Truth questioning her relationship with Tyler Norris, Mercedes Northup wanted to find out how things were with him.

“We didn’t go deeper with each other,” Mercedes, 25, told Tyler, 27. “It’s like there’s really no depth. I don’t feel like you’re trying to stalk me.”

Mercedes said she heard the possibility of a long-distance relationship outside of Mexico played into why he didn’t want to get serious with her. “It was something I was afraid of for sure,” Tyler admitted.

Tyler said he wanted to go out with someone he felt a “spark” with, and Mercedes asked him if he felt that with her. “The last rose I gave you was for me to figure out if the spark would come at some point,” he said.

Mercedes took this as a “bad sign” for their connection and told Tyler that she didn’t want to give him her rose. “I feel taken advantage of if there’s no spark,” she said.

Meanwhile, Rachel Recchia wanted to explore a relationship with Jordan Vandergriff, but he felt more friendly vibes.

“Is there a romantic side to me?” Jordan, 28, marveled at the group. “Like, I don’t know if I can get those romantic feelings back.”

Jordan expressed interest in Mercedes, but even after their conversation, Mercedes didn’t know who she wanted to give her rose to.

Brayden Bowers, Taylor Pegg and Tanner Courtad tried to hook up with newly single Jess. Brayden, 24, brought her chocolate and Tanner, 30, blasted Jess about seeing her devotion to Blake as a “green flag”.

“I want to meet you,” Jess told Tanner, adding that she feels “so weird” after breaking up with Blake.

Tanner thought that meant he had a chance. “Maybe your openness is enough to make me want to stay here,” he said.

ROSE CEREMONY

At the rose ceremony, Eliza Isichei began by giving her rose to Aaron Bryant. Kat Izzo then presented her rose to John Henry Spurlock, Kylee presented her rose to Aven Jones, and Olivia Lewis presented her rose to Michael Barbour.

Sam Picco handed her rose to Peter Cappi and Jess decided to offer hers to Tanner, but Taylor heard his name and awkwardly stepped forward first. “I’m sorry!” Jess said to Taylor.

Mercedes ended up giving her rose to Jordan and before Rachel, 27, could announce who she wanted her rose to, she left saying she needed a moment.

When host Jesse Palmer checked in with her, Rachel said, “I think I might have to go.”

With that, the ex-Girlfriend returned to the group to say goodbye.

“I really got into it Paradise without any expectations,” Rachel told the cameras. “And I made mistakes, but I learned a lot more about myself.”

Jesse, 45, informed the group that Rachel had lost her rose upon leaving, meaning rose-less Brayden and Taylor also had to pack their bags and head home.
