Abandoned circus seals are enjoying their first steps of freedom in 20 years

This is a moving story about a bear who has never tasted freedom. However, after decades in the circus, the helpless animal has a chance to live free.

Cholita, a 25-year-old fur seal, has lived a difficult life in a circus in Peru for more than 20 years. Locked in small cages and subjected to unimaginable treatment, Cholita still bears traces of her troubled past.

When the circus is closed due to illegal work and the animals are confiscated, Cholita is transferred to a zoo, it seems like she will never experience fear again. However, ten years later, Jan Creamer, president of Animal Defenders International (ADI), learns of Cholita’s story and is determined to find her a better home.

After being temporarily housed at the ADI Rescue Centre, Cholita was eventually returned to her permanent home in the Taricaya Ecological Reserve, the natural habitat of the glass-eyed partridge.

After four days of travel, Cholita has arrived at her new home where she can live peacefully and enjoy the rest of her days.

Watch Chօlita take her first steps towards freedom in the video below.
