Abbott Elementary Season 4 Trailer Teases Class Pets and Ringworm Scares

School has started again Abbott Elementary School!

On Wednesday, September 25, ABC shared a brand new trailer for Season 4 of the three-time Emmy-winning sitcom.

“We want books. We want paper towels in the classroom. I bet you all want raises too,” Principal Ava Coleman (Janelle James) mockingly tells Barbara Howard (Sheryl Lee Ralph) and Melissa Schemmenti (Lisa Ann Walter) in the clip as she complains that her staff is asking for basic necessities.

A montage follows that shows Janine Teagues (Quinta Brunson), Gregory Eddie (Tyler James Williams), Jacob Hill (Chris Perfetti) and Mr. Johnson (William Stanford Davis) going through their typical, chaotic days at a fictional public school in Philadelphia.

School dances and HR visits are just some of the shenanigans seen in Season 4.

“We asked the district for more after-school programs,” a cheerful Janine begins the confessional scene. “They gave us $50 for pets instead.”

Janine is then seen trying to play with the guinea pig being held by Melissa before howling in pain as she pulls her hand away from the rodent’s mouth area.

“He bites,” Janine says, laughing nervously as she shows her hands – which reveal two colorful band-aids.

Barbara seems to have better luck with her class pet.

“We’ll get along like swimming,” she says, holding a bowl of fish.

In addition to animals instead of extracurricular activities, Abbott Elementary School has an outbreak of ringworm, causing teachers and professors to panic. Principal Coleman takes no chances in a full protective suit.

“I love you like a son, Jacob, but I’m going to beat you up,” Mr. Johnson tells his co-worker as the staff do their best to avoid a contagious yeast infection.

“Cancel the lectures, burn Abbott!” Gregory shouts before locking himself in the classroom as the rest of the staff are seen gathering various disinfectants.

“In this workplace comedy, a group of dedicated, passionate teachers – and a slightly deaf principal – come together at a Philadelphia public school where, against the odds, they are determined to help their students succeed in life. While these amazing educators may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do — even if they don’t like the school district’s less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children,” the synopsis reads.

Earlier this month, PEOPLE had an exclusive look at key art for the upcoming season, where show creator Brunson, 34, opened up about what viewers can expect going forward.

“It’s going to be a fun season of TV,” she said, keeping quiet about what’s to come. Executive producer Justin Halpern added, “We’re really excited to develop these characters in Season 4 and continue to do comedies.”
