Abhijit

Abhijeet is an Indian playback singer and music composer. He has sung songs in more than 18 languages, including Bengali, Odia, Bhojpuri, Marathi and Gujarati. Abhijeet has a record of singing more than 6,000 songs in nearly 1,000 films.

Abhijeet was born as “Abhijeet Bhattacharya” on October 30, 1958 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh (age 60 in 2018). His zodiac sign is Scorpio. He studied at Ramakrishna Mission High School, Kanpur and BNSD Inter College, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He received his bachelor’s degree from Christ Church College, Kanpur. After passing class 10 exams, Abhijeet started taking singing training from tutors RS Katiyar and Shankar Bordes. In 1981, he went to Mumbai to further his studies as a chartered accountant but decided to become a professional singer.

  • He is best known for voicing Shah Rukh Khan in the 1990s and 2000s. After singing in the film Billu Barber (2009), he refused to sing for Shah Rukh again.   • In the ongoing murder case of Infosys technician Swati in Chennai, Abhijit said it was a case of “love jihad”.
