Abhilash Thapliyal is an Indian radio jockey, film actor and television host, working primarily in the Hindi entertainment industry. He came into limelight with his role in the Hindi film Dil Juunglee, in which he played the role of Prashant.

Abhilash was born on Tuesday, November 24, 1987, in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir (35 years old as of 2022). His zodiac sign is Sagittarius. Abhilash was an army brat who was brought up by his parents in Delhi, Gwalior, Gurdaspur and Jaipur. Due to his father’s job transfer, he attended various Army schools in India. In 2005, he studied at Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 4, Jaipur. According to Abhilash, he completed his high school education in the field of science; however, he always wanted to pursue a career as a radio jockey. Soon after completing his high school education, he studied Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication at Delhi University, New Delhi from 2005 to 2008. He received his Master’s degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from Sikkim Manipal University from 2010 to 2012. In an interview, Abhilash spoke about his interest in pursuing a career as a broadcast jockey and said:
Let me tell you, no one in my family knows about the media or has any connections. I belong to a middle class military family and have traveled almost all over India. I just believe I should do what I love and my family has always supported me. I studied science in school but soon knew I wanted to be a doctor or engineer. So why not do something fun? That’s when we learned about radio and how we could make money by giving speeches and playing songs.

Abhilash started his career as a radio jockey in 2006 while pursuing his degree in New Delhi and hosted his first radio show, Mehfil, on All India Radio, New Delhi. In 2007, he worked as a prime time radio jockey and producer at Radio Tarang FM 104 in Hisar, hosting the programs Airtel Shaam ka Signal and Hafta Bandh. In an interview, Abhilash recalled his experience working at Radio Hisar Tharang and revealed that his previous salary was Rs 10,000 per month. He said,
Phir kya tha apan bhi lag gaye and joined a radio station in Hisar during college. I once traveled to Hisar from Delhi. At that time I was given Rs 10,000 in cash as salary. The day I took a Haryana road bus from Hisar to Delhi with my salary, I was in a bad situation. I used to think that no one should know I had cash in my bag. Being so restless along the way, I often thought of ways to manage my bag. “

- According to Abhilash, initially he wanted to serve the Indian Army like his father and applied to the National Defense Academy (NDA); however, his application was rejected. Shortly after his confidentiality agreement was rejected, he decided to pursue a career in broadcasting. Abhilash spoke about this in an interview and said:
That was my first and last attempt at joining the military. After my application was rejected, I graduated from Delhi University and went on to become a radio jockey and actor. My dream is still a dream. If I could go back in time and change one thing, it would be my choice to join the military. “
- In 2015, various YouTube videos of Abhilash Thapliyal went viral on YouTube, in which he pranked famous politician Arvind Kejriwal. He was dubbed “The Silencer Man” after the video went viral. However, he later stopped uploading politics-related videos. According to Abhilash, he was afraid of filming political satire. Abhilash spoke about this in an interview and said:
I’m a little scared of doing political satire right now. A lot of events happened in 2021. People don’t accept political humor. They are angry. There was a time when Shekhar Suman would imitate Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Lalu Prasad. They used to be fun to watch and even politicians used to treat it positively. Politicians don’t know much about humor these days. So what if I write a piece of satire and someone files a lawsuit against me? I don’t want that. I’m just controlling myself. - In an interview, Abhilash Thapliyal talked about how he decided to pursue a career in films.
