They claim that Abraham Hamadeh actually won the election because numerous provisional votes they believe were cast in his favor were incorrectly disqualified, and some smaller votes were disqualified due to ambiguous markings.

Abraham Hamadeh is seeking a new trial to challenge Arizona AG’s findings.

Democratic candidate Kris Mayes has been in that position since the election results were announced in late December.

Hamadeh’s attorney, Jennifer Wright, told Mohave County Superior Court Judge Lee F. Jantzen that her client needs a new trial as a result of errors discovered during a recount in remote Pinal County that reduced the total margin of approximately 2.5 million votes between the two candidates from 511 to 280. According to Wright, “This case is about new evidence and facts, not fraud.”

Attorney General Alexis Danneman described the request as “unprecedented”.

According to Danneman, Hamadeh’s lawyers were essentially saying: “The election was close. We could find out anything if you let us keep looking.

In the coming weeks, according to Jantzen, he will make a decision.

Six months after an election in which Democrats won key races in the former Republican stronghold, the case is one of many still pending in Arizona courts.

Although the courts have thrown out most of her claims, former television host Kari Lake, the Republican candidate for Arizona governor in 2022, is still contesting her loss to Democrat Katie Hobbs, who took office in January.

The only remaining legal claim in Lake’s challenge to his loss to Hobbs six months ago will be the subject of a three-day trial that begins Wednesday.

Former President Donald Trump’s election lies became a focal point of Lake’s campaign. When they lost the election in November, most voter skeptics across the country relented, but Lake pushed on.

The Republicans have selected a group of Trump-backed candidates who are primarily concerned with testing their exaggerated predictions for the 2020 election. In addition to Hobbs and Mayes, Democrat Adrian Fontes won the race for Secretary of State, while Sen. Mark Kelly was reelected.

Earlier last month, the Arizona Supreme Court fined Lake’s lawyers $2,000 for their unsuccessful attempt to vacate Hobbs’ victory.

The state Supreme Court ruled that Lake’s attorney made “false statements of fact” regarding the unauthorized addition of more than 35,000 ballots to the final vote count.
