Adam Brody Says He and Wife Leighton Meester Are ‘Each Other’s Manager’

Adam Brody and Leighton Meester aren’t afraid to mix business and pleasure.

Monday, September 16 episode of Dax Shepard Armchair expert podcast, Brody, 44, shared how he and Meester, 38, consult — and even work together — on projects.

“Everything runs through each other,” explained the actor. “We’re each other’s managers and we also have two of the same agents… We’re in each other’s hands that way, we even did a movie together a few years ago.”

Brody is probably referring to the number of films the two have made together over the years, including the 2023 adventure thriller. wild river, who accompanied her brothers and sisters on rafting. The pair have also appeared in projects including the 2014 rom-com Life partners and the ABC sitcom Single parents.

“She’s charmingly away from work. She literally won’t know Seth Rogen’s name, you know what I mean? … That’s—– great, because it doesn’t detract from her artistry,” he explained. “That’s not what she focuses on, so she has that outsider quality and she can come in, but she’s such an artist.

“She’s a poet, she has depth and she reads material that’s always instructive and she has great radar,” he continued. “And so she can still get into the heart of something, the script, no problem, but it’s up to me to look at the cover letter and say, ‘Are you doing it or not.’ ”

When it comes to business instincts, Brody said he usually has a better understanding of what might make a great project.

“Before we even read it, I said, ‘Oh, these names, these are good names. You probably want to be included,” he said, adding, “I haven’t heard of these names. It sounds sketchy. Let me read it. I’m a business guy.’ But she knows in an intelligent, intuitive way what is true, what is lyrical, and what is bullshit—.”

A couple who met on set oranges, got they got engaged in November 2013 and later married in a private ceremony in February 2014. They now have two children: a daughter, Arlo, born in 2015, and a son, whose name has not been revealed, born in 2020.

More than a decade after tying the knot, the couple never takes each other for granted, and Meester told E! News in November 2023 that “we’re just working.”

“We’re just super, super lucky, and I think we recognize how lucky we are with each other,” she told the magazine. “We give each other a lot of respect and time and attention and focus. Like, we’re really putting our time and energy into the relationship.”
