Adrienne Maloof is an empty nester — and she’s not happy about it.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills The alum, 63, opened up about life on her own now that her three grown children are out of the house in an exclusive chat with PEOPLE at her holiday party at her Beverly Hills, Calif., estate.
The Dec. 21 party, which she co-hosted with her celebrity friend Niecy Nash-Betts, benefited Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
“My oldest is 21 years old [and Gavin is] in industry. And then I have twins [Colin and Christian] who are 18. So, yes, I have three boys, and they are … all grown up now. It’s sad,” she says. “I’m an empty nester and it’s really hard.”
Maloof — who shares her three sons with ex-husband Paul Nassif — says that while her sons were home for Christmas, it’s “not enough for me,” adding, “It’s never enough for moms.”

As for the hardest part of this new phase of life? Big, quiet house.
“I love the excitement. I love laughter – she says. “My children bring their friends always ready to feed them. I miss that. I really want to.”
However, Maloof adds that empty nesting motivates her to think ahead.
“I learned that I needed to move on to the next chapter in my life,” she says. “And I have some great projects coming up. So I’m blessed for that.”

The businesswoman also says she’s learned to be resilient despite often working in male-dominated spaces.
“I grew up with all my brothers, so I had to be tough. You have to be really tough. And then, of course, I had all the boys. … I live in a man’s world,” he says with a laugh. “I give credit to my father because he always said, ‘Whatever your brothers can do, you can do it better.’ So he really empowered me to be a strong business woman [and] leader.”
While Maloof says she has to keep the details of her upcoming projects under wraps, she revealed to PEOPLE that one involves documenting her family’s sports and Vegas dealings — noting that’s all her family was known for at one point.

Adrienne Maloof’s uncle died of coronavirus: ‘Bless him and the extraordinary life he lived’
“Honestly, when I started housewives, you know, people knew my brothers from the world of sports, casinos, but they didn’t really know they even had a sister until the moment Housewives started and the whole world knew who I was,” explains the TV personality. “So that’s the beauty of what the show can do for you. You know, it gives you a great platform for your philanthropic work and your business.”
She adds that apart from business projects, her true passion is helping others.
“You can’t look at the glamor and the glitz of life because we’re all going to be, you know, six feet under one day,” she says. “I mean, it is what it is. So what will you do for humanity? What will you do to make the world a better place? Fair to God? That’s how I live my life.”
