Exiled dictator Assad’s ‘Desert Rose’ wife Asma BARRED from UK return amid cancer treatment and divorce rumours

BASHAR al-Assad’s wife Asma has effectively been banned from returning to the UK.

The 49-year-old – who was born in London – will not be able to return home as her passport has expired.

Asma, her tyrant husband and their family are currently living in exile in Moscow.

The couple fled Syria’s collapse as Assad’s two decades in power were wiped out in days by rampaging rebels.

Russian despot Vladimir Putin – a friend of the family – offered them refuge as they desperately fled the Middle East.

But since their exile, reports have emerged that Asma wants to return to the UK – and may even be seeking a divorce.

Asma is reportedly suffering from leukemia and only has a 50/50 chance of survival.

But without official British travel documents she will be barred from returning home, reports The Times.

Asma is believed to have played a key role in her husband’s bloody regime.

She indulged in a luxurious lifestyle and ensured herself power and comfort while the Syrian people were brutally oppressed.

The couple sat on thrones built on war crimes, murder, torture, chemical weapons, massacres and unparalleled cruelty.

It is rumored that she wanted to return to Britain without Assad so that she could continue her cancer treatment.

And her cardiologist father, Fawaz Akhras, is reported to have left the UK to look after his daughter full-time in Moscow.

Whitehall sources say she no longer holds a valid British passport – which expired in September 2020.

But Home Secretary Yvette Cooper will reportedly not allow her into the UK due to ill health.

It is not clear whether the UK government actively blocked Asma’s attempts to renew her passport or whether it was allowed to expire.

The revelations about her passport come amid calls to strip her of her citizenship for her role in Assad’s bloody regime.

Asma, known for her intelligence and charm, is said to be unhappy with her life under Putin’s baton in Moscow.

He is said to be being treated for acute myeloid leukemia, an aggressive form of blood and bone marrow cancer.

Foreign Secretary David Lammy previously said Asma was no longer welcome in the UK, implying she could soon lose her British passport.

Lammy told MPs: “I want it confirmed that she is a sanctioned person and that she is not welcome here in the UK.

“I will do everything in my power to ensure that no one from that family finds a place in the UK.”

Robert Jenrick, the shadow justice minister, told The Telegraph: “It would be an insult to the millions of Assad’s victims if his wife were to return to a life of luxury in the UK.”

“The UK government sanctioned it for a reason – the Assad family is responsible for some of the worst crimes in modern times.”

Asma was born and raised in London, and she and Bashar previously lived together in the city.

If banned from the UK, Syria’s exiled first family would face being trapped in the “golden cage” of Russian tyrant Putin, a Russian political analyst has warned.

Pro-opposition political analyst Stanislav Belkovsky claimed that Asma wants to return to London and return to investment banking.

He said: “Life in Moscow, Russia – in a golden cage – no longer satisfies Asma Assad.

“Western intelligence agencies express extreme concern for Asma’s physical safety.”

How Assad’s wife ‘Desert Rose’, born British, became the ‘First Lady of Hell’

Sayan Bose, foreign correspondent

DEPOSED dictator Bashar al-Assad’s British-born wife was once seen as a symbol of women’s freedom and empowerment in the repressive Middle East.

But it didn’t take long for Asma al-Assad, described as the “Rose in the Desert” for her elegance and charm, to become a trademark of oppression as she served as the “First Lady of Hell.”

The former first lady of Syria is now in exile in Russia after Islamic rebels toppled the regime of her butcher husband, ousting the dictator and his family.

Born in England in 1975, Asma is the daughter of Fawaz Akhras, 78, a consultant cardiologist, and Sahar, 75, a diplomat in the Syrian embassy.

She grew up in a £1 million mansion in west London and graduated in computer science from King’s College.

It was in the early 90s when Asma met Assad while on vacation in Syria.

Rumor has it that the couple fell in love when the future tyrant moved to London to study as an ophthalmologist.

They married in 2000, the same year that Assad suddenly inherited the dictatorship in Syria after his brother and regime heir Bassel was killed in a car accident.

As the first lady of Syria, Asma – who does not wear a burka or a veil to cover her face – made a strong impression as an independent woman on the world stage.

She told a friend that she is the “real dictator” in the family, writes The Telegraph.
