Michael was the costume supervisor in Benidorm, while Tony played the role of Kenneth Du Beke’s hairdresser.
Now Tony has discovered that his friend has sadly died.
He wrote: “Thank you all so much for all your efforts in re-posting our appeal to find Michael yesterday.
“I am so sad to say that we found out late last night that we have lost our beautiful friend.
“Our whole family in Benidorm are devastated and will miss them very much. RIP Michael.”
It came after Tony posted a photo of the pair and asked followers for help.
He said: “This is our friend Michael McGarrigle. Michael is a valued member of our family from Benidorm who has worked on the show for many years as our costume supervisor.
“He has been missing for several days, last seen in the early hours of Sunday morning in the Glasgow area.
“We, his friends and family are extremely concerned for his safety and would appeal to anyone who has seen him in the last 48 hours to contact Glasgow Police.”
Tony has been part of the cast of Coronation Street since 2020, playing George Shuttleworth.
His career began with a role in the film Life for Life in 1998, in which he played Stefan Kiszko.
Since then he has starred in numerous TV series including Doc Martin, Miss Marple and Ordinary Lives.
He also starred in many films, including Sleepy Hollow from 1999, where he played Van Ripper.
Tony joined the all-star cast of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix as Grawp, Hagrid’s giant brother.
