Ajay Singh is an Indian weightlifter who has won several medals in national and international weightlifting championships. He holds several national weightlifting records and is considered one of the best weightlifters in India.

Ajay Singh Shekhawat was born on Thursday, April 17, 1997 (age 25; as of 2022) in Khadot village, Chirawa tehsil, Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan, India. His zodiac sign is Aries. He studied in MG Public School, Jhunjhuno till fifth standard. He was active in sports because he had no interest in studies. He participated in kabaddi, track and field competitions, and competed in 20-kilometer walk events and occasionally 600-meter races; however, in 2010, after he entered the Army Sports School, the coach recommended him after examining his body structure and muscle movement. He trained for 2-3 years with Subedar Rajender at the Army Sports Academy in Pune and with Senior Coach Vijay Sharma and Assistant Coach Pramod Sharma at the Netaji Subhas National Sports Academy in Patiala. He competed in various local weightlifting competitions in Junjunu. In 2012, he participated in the 8th National Youth Weightlifting Championships under 69 kg and won the fifth place. In 2016, he participated in the 67th National Men’s Senior Weightlifting Championships held in Jaipur, Rajasthan, and finished fourth. He participated in the Commonwealth Junior Championships in 2015, 2016, 2017, and won the fifth place in the 18th Asian Games in 2018. In the 2018 IWF World Championships, he finished 26th; in the 2019 IWF World Championships, he finished 18th. In 2020, he participated in the sixth International Solidarity Championship and finished fourth. He has gold medals at the 2019 and 2021 Commonwealth Senior Championships. In 2021, he finished 13th at the 2021 IWF World Championships and finished 4th at the 22nd Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

Facts / Trivia
- In December 2019, he was denied boarding due to a damaged passport and returned home from the airport, unable to compete in Olympic weightlifting qualifying events in Doha and the subsequent Tokyo 2020 Games.
- During the offseason, he trains for one hour in the morning, trains from 10 am to 1 pm during the day, and conducts technical training from 4 pm to 7 pm.
- In his spare time, he likes to watch South Indian action movies, and Ravi Teja is his favorite South Indian actor.
- In 2020, he suffered a tear in the lateral shoulder muscle and biceps, which he feared could end his career; however, he was treated by Dr. Ajit Mahapari in Pune and after two to three months of rehabilitation Treatment and training with coach Iqbal Singh saw his performance return within 6 months.
- In 2015, he was employed with the 21st Rajputana Rifles Battalion of the Indian Army as a Havardar. He also got offers from the Rajasthan Police, the Indian Railways and the Bank of India; however, he aspired to join the army and chose the Indian Army. At 22, he had been promoted to Naib Subedar.

- He was called “horsepower” by his friends and coaches because of his immense strength.
- He was unable to compete with his sister Bharati Kanwar on December 6, 2021, as he had to participate in the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He promised his sister that he would bring a gold medal and later won the gold medal in the competition.
- He is the national record holder in the 81kg snatch, clean and jerk and total lifts.
