Alan Pound, age 62, and Ronnie McEnturff, age 61, both of Emory, sadly died at the scene, the Simpson County Coroner’s Office and Kentucky State Police confirmed. It is deeply sad that they both come from the same city.
Based on a preliminary investigation by the Kentucky State Police, it was determined that Pound was driving a 1985 pickup truck in the southbound lanes of Interstate 65. His vehicle collided with the rear of a 2008 International fire truck operated by Franklin-Simpson Fire and Rescue. Authorities said the fire truck stopped in the left lane, with emergency equipment activated, due to an unrelated crash that occurred south of its location.
The Simpson County Coroner’s findings confirmed the tragic deaths of Pound and McEnturff at the scene of the crash. Meanwhile, the firefighter who was present on the fire engine during the collision was treated for minor injuries.
