Alaska Airlines is offering 30 percent off flights for a limited time following the mid-air incident on one of its planes earlier in January.

The airline’s official website implies that the sale is to celebrate their return to “reliable operation” now that their previously grounded Boeing 737-Max 9 aircraft have been cleared for travel after weeks of inspections.

“We’re returning to the reliable performance you’ve come to expect from Alaska,” reads their website.

Travelers will need to use the code THANKYOU30 by January 31, 2024 at 11:59 PM PT to receive the discount on flights from February 8 to March 13. However, only selected days and destinations listed on their website are eligible for the full discount. All other routes will receive a 10 percent discount using the code above.

Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci said in a statement following the incident: “Following tonight’s event on Flight 1282, we have decided to take the precautionary step of temporarily grounding our fleet of 65 Boeing 737-9 aircraft. Each aircraft will only be returned to service after full maintenance and safety inspections have been completed. We expect all inspections to be completed in the next few days.”
