Alex Edelman, Tim Key, Gbemisola Ikumelo and Eric Rahill Join Peacock's The Office Spinoff

More stars are heading towards Office spinoff!

Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Tim Key and Eric Rahill will join the upcoming mockumentary series Peacock, the streamer posted on October 10.

In addition to their on-screen roles, Rahill, Ikumelo and Edelman will also serve as writers for the series as BJ Novak (Ryan), Mindy Kaling (Kelly) and Paul Lieberstein (Toby) did on the original series.

In May, Peacock revealed that Greg Daniels (who adapted the British version of the series) and Michael Koman were teaming up to launch a spinoff of the cult series. Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore have also been named to star in the upcoming series.

Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg and Ramona Young are also set to star in the new series.

Shortly after the announcement, Steve Carell — who starred in the original alongside Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer and BJ Novak — said he was not involved in the new project.

“I’ll be watching, but I won’t show up,” he said The Hollywood Reporter in May. “It’s just a new thing and there’s really no reason for my character to appear in something like that. But I’m excited about it, it sounds like a lot of conceit. I like the idea – I suppose it’s set in a failing newspaper company.”

Krasinski also talked about the spinoff in an interview with PEOPLE in May. He explained that he currently has no plans to reprise Jim Halpert’s role in the spinoff, but left the door open to the possibility.

“I don’t know anything about it other than I think it’s going on in the papers, the local paper and that Domhnall Gleeson, who I’m working with at the moment, who is the sweetest and most talented guy, he’s going to break it… whatever it is… he’s I’m going to crush it,” he said.

“They didn’t ask [for him to return] but the truth is, I would do anything Greg Daniels asked me to do,” he teased.

As for advice for first-timers, original cast member Kaling, 45, had some advice.

“Try not to laugh,” she said on SiriusXM Morning Mash Up May 15. “I ruined so many takes just because I would, like, laugh at Rainn Wilson and Steve Carell. I wasn’t a professional.”

Ironically, Kaling joked that her character was “supposed to be horrified the whole time,” but she always struggled to keep a straight face when there were so many funny people around.

“Actually, I think I could laugh on camera,” she added. “I imagine that cast is going to be as funny as the one we’ve had, and there’s so many great minds behind it, so my thing is just learning not to break down in front of the camera.”
