The BBC has announced a new partnership with BBC Northern Ireland as part of its commitment to the Across the UK initiative, which will add more regional culture to programming. With Chef Mr. Greene of the Great British Menu, B&B By The Sea is run by a team of exciting new talent in a true Downhill Beach B&B.
In each episode, different celebrity guests, all with strong personal ties to the coast, will stay at the B&B and embark on a personal journey of self-discovery and introspection while taking advantage of the local cuisine and stimulating surroundings.
So far, Richard Blackwood, Linford Christie, Fred Sirieix and Deborah Meaden have booked rooms at the B&B. Before returning to the B&B kitchen to create dishes guests will love to try at home, Chef Alex Greene and the B&B staff explore the surroundings and local ingredients together.
Afro-Mic Productions is producing B&B By The Sea with funding from Northern Ireland Screen. It will be shown on BBC Two, BBC One Northern Ireland and BBC iPlayer.
Hope Street, the popular Northern Ireland crime drama, has also been commissioned again by BBC Daytime, BBC Northern Ireland and BritBox International for a second series. The second series of Streets of Hope will premiere on BBC Daytime and BBC One Northern Ireland later in the year after filming begins in May 2022.
According to Carla-Maria Lawson, outgoing head of BBC Daytime and Early Peak, “B&B By The Sea and Hope Street are further examples of Daytime’s commitment to working closely with our colleagues across the UK, bringing real programs to the screen and strengthen our relationships with service providers across the country.”
“Hope Street has been a real hit with our audience and has been a great platform for regional artists both in front of and behind the scenes,” said Eddie Doyle, Head of Content Commissioning, BBC Northern Ireland.
“We are delighted that the cast and crew are returning to Donaghadee. I’m particularly excited about the news of B&B By The Sea, which promises to showcase Northern Ireland’s stunning coastline.
