Alex Rodriguez’s Morning Routine: Gym, Sauna, Stretching, Meditation — and ‘I Don’t Look at My Phone Until Noon’

Alex Rodriguez isn’t shy about sharing the details of his recent 30-pound weight gain. weight loss, admitting he “went a bit astray” while appearing on Show Jennifer Hudson Friday.

“During the pandemic, I think we were all very nervous. We never knew if we would see people again,” said the former New York Yankee, 48.

“I am a very social person. i love people I love people,” he said, adding that he “was so stressed out” about work and commuting between Los Angeles and Miami that he “started putting on weight.”

Rodriguez — who serves as CEO of two companies, investment firm A-ROD Corp and Slam Corp — told Hudson, “I haven’t been focusing as much on my health.”

It wasn’t until his girlfriend, Canadian fitness instructor Jaclyn Cordeiro (44), stepped in that he decided to take action.

He says Cordeiro told him, “You have to get in better shape.”

“I just changed my routine,” Rodriguez told Hudson.

“I get up in the morning and don’t look at my phone until noon,” Rodriguez said.

“So from the moment I wake up, I’m at the gym at 8, work out for a few hours, come home, take a little sauna, steam a little, stretch, meditate, and then I’m at my desk every day from 12 to 6.”

“That sounds amazing, I’ll have to adopt it,” Hudson said. “Because I immediately pick up the phone.”

Rodriguez has previously credited intermittent fasting — a time-restricted eating approach praised by celebrities like Jennifer Aniston and Chris Pratt — with helping him achieve his fitness goals. And as he explained to Hudson, not only had he changed when he ate, but what he ate too.

“I eliminated the steak,” he said.

In addition to her morning workout, Rodriguez ends her day with cardio, telling Hudson, “I added this 45 minute walk right after dinner and it really helps. So far so good.”

While he admitted it can be “vulnerable” to talk about his fitness in a recent Instagram post, Rodriguez wrote that he “decided to share anyway because the last year of my health journey has changed my life.”

“I looked unhealthy,” he said. “It’s not what you want to hear, but I knew I wasn’t the best.”
