Kevin Lemons was a Kevin Lemons & Higher Calling member.
Kevin was born on September 12, 1978, and spent most of his youth in Atlanta, Georgia. Kevin’s grandmother, Annie Ruth Lemons, founded the Atlanta Masonic Choir, which Kevin’s father, Wilbert Lemons, subsequently headed. Kevin Lemons & Higher Calling was founded in 1996 during a meeting held by his father and attended by Kevin and a few other young vocalists. With Kevin as their head, the ministry gradually began to grow, and they preached the message of love, unity, and spiritual development among the people. They were recognized for their albums Destined for Greatness and The Declaration, which reached the top of the Billboard charts.
Kevin Lemons & Higher Calling now consists of 70 individuals, all of them are well-known for their vocals and performances. The ministry is signed to Hez House Entertainment, and they rose to prominence with the publication of their 2021 album, 3rd Round, which included the hit, For Your Good. This ministry’s vocalists come mostly from Atlanta, Alabama, California, Florida, Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and New Orleans.
Kevin’s choral music has always been well-received by the audience. He often arranged seminars at various educational institutions all around the globe. Popular music business figures that partnered with him praised his work. He shared the stage alongside Bebe Winans, Donald Lawrence, Tamela Mann, Erica Campbell, Kirk Franklin, and others. Lemons was a loud director in the 2018 Netflix drama Come Sunday. The film, directed by Joshua Marston and starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jason Segel, Condola Rashad, Lakeith Stanfield, Stacey Sergeant, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Danny Glover, and Martin Sheen, was released on April 13, 2018.
Kevin’s labelmate, Bishop Hezekiah Walker, described the late musician as a “wonderful human being,” according to Atlanta News First.
“Everything he did was seasoned with his love for God, and his tangible love for others was an extension of that. Kevin Lemons was a wonderful person who will be much missed.”
Tiunna, Kevin’s wife, survives him. His record company, HezHouse Entertainment, has said that further details concerning his memorial would be disclosed shortly.
