Alfonso Ribeiro Can’t Wait to Show Off His 20-Lb. Weight Loss on Dancing With the Stars (Exclusive)

Alfonso Ribeiro is ready to put on his dancing shoes and show off his recent weight loss.

With the upcoming return Dancing with the stars and America’s Funniest Home Videosthe famous presenter (52) tells PEOPLE that he recently lost 20 kg, which he believes will be visible on the small screen.

Speaking about the competitive dance reality show, which he co-hosts with Julianne Hough, Ribeiro says: “I know it’s going to be an exciting season and we’re going to have some fun. It’s going to be great and the dancing is going to be better than ever.”

The actor continues to talk about his weight loss. “And I’ve lost 20 pounds, so now I’m like, ‘Oh, I think I might look a little better when they ask me to do some of the little dances in the opening numbers.’ So, you know, I’m ready to rock,” he says.

The The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air The alum hasn’t gone into too much detail about his lifestyle changes, but has talked in the past about how his wife Angela Unkrich shares her passion for healthy eating on Instagram.

Last October, Ribeiro revealed on Show in the Tamron Hall that his family changed their diet eight years after a “health situation with one of my kids…my little dude.”

He further said, “He had health problems and we learned how to feed him.”

The host said, “We live a completely non-toxic lifestyle where we eat no sugar, no gluten, no corn, no dairy, no oats, anything that makes you bloated, we usually stay away from.”

Ribeiro has a busy month ahead of him Dancing with the stars set to return on September 17 and America’s Funniest Home Videos premiering its landmark 35th season on September 29.

“It’s a lot of work doing two shows at once. But you know, they’re two shows that I absolutely adore and love and I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of them,” Ribeiro tells us. “Obviously, with AFV they are coming back, this is their 35th season [and] my 10th season as host. This is going to be special and I’m excited to get back to laughing and having fun.”

On the subject of the dance competition, he teases that “they’re putting all the names together and things are getting closer,” noting that he doesn’t know who will be starring in the season yet. “I’m excited to see who we have this year. I’m sure, obviously, with the Olympic year, hopefully we’ll have a few Olympians and it should be a fantastic season,” he says.

Earlier this summer, Ribeiro took an intimate, eight-day cruise on the Rhine River by Adventures by Disney with nine members of his family, including Angela, his youngest three children, his parents and in-laws.

He told PEOPLE it took some convincing to make the trip, but now he has only positive memories. “[I] i didn’t think i would enjoy it as much as i did. It was a kind of shock. But I really enjoyed it. It was a really fun time. The kids really liked it [ and] my wife loved it,” he said.
