Poehler and Arnett’s older son, Archibald “Archie” William Emerson Arnett, was born on October 25, 2008. He was named after his father, whose full name is William Emerson Arnett.

He was born on a Saturday, so his mother’s costar at the time, Seth Meyers, had to share the news of his birth during theirs Weekend update segment of Saturday night live. He told the cheering crowd, “Amy Poehler is not here tonight because she’s having a baby.”

A few weeks after Archie’s birth, his proud dad said at an event: “He loves being a baby right now. He’s thinking about smiling. He’s trying to decide if he’s ready or not.” He also said his son wasn’t making any verbal sounds at the time, but that “there are a lot else noises.”

Poehler and Arnett’s younger son, Abel James Arnett, was born on August 6, 2010.
