Danielle Haim and her lover, Ariel Rechtshaid, are a music business power couple. HAIM has built a reputation in the music business and received critical acclaim. Este Haim, Danielle Haim and Alana Haim are the three sisters of the band. Danielle is the lead vocalist of the band of three sisters, with additional siblings providing instruments and vocals. The band has been creating music for almost a decade. They usually worked with various producers, one of them being Rechtshaid. Beyoncé, Madonna, Adele, Charli XCX, Justin Bieber, Solange Knowles and U2 have collaborated with the Grammy-winning producer. But it is possible that his favorite is HAIM. Danielle and Rechtshaid first met in 2012. In an interview with NME on January 28, 2021, the singer revealed how she first met her lover. Danielle had heard songs produced by Rechtshaid before she met him. She first heard ‘County Line’ by Cass McCombs and started looking for a producer. She discovered Rechtshaid’s name and was charmed by his abilities. Then a few weeks later she heard Usher’s “Climax”.
She discovered that Rechtshaid had recreated the song. She then informed her management that she wanted to see the producer, and the two met soon after. They did a couple of songs together and had chemistry, but nothing happened between them until that moment. They met when HAIM was on a press tour in London, and Rechtshaid was in town for mastering.
“It took a long time to build after that,” the producer added, “but I think that’s when Danielle and I made that connection right away.” And the rest, as they say, is history. Neither of them said when they started dating, but what is known is that they are in a relationship. Danielle is not very active on social media, while Rechtshaid often shares photos of his lover on Instagram.

While working on HAIM’s second album, Something to Tell You, the Grammy-winning producer was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2015. As a result, the album was put on hold while Rechtshaid received treatment. However, neither Rechtshaid nor HAIM disclosed any information about the former’s cancer. They mentioned it only after the release of the album as an explanation for the delay. During the entire treatment, the sisters were by their producer’s side and helped him in the war. But unfortunately it took a mental toll on Danielle during this period.
In an August 2020 interview with The Independent, the sisters said Danielle had been struggling with her boyfriend’s condition. As a result, she suffered from depression. Danielle, on the other hand, was able to overcome her grief with the help of nurses and therapists. On HAIM’s song ‘Summer Girl’, she also expressed her feelings about her boyfriend’s illness. Danielle wrote this on a trip with her boyfriend after his diagnosis. Therefore, of course, she wanted to be with him and put her heart and soul into the song.
She could not discuss Rechtshaid’s illness publicly because it was not her story. However, she is glad that after the release of their single, people recognized “where music comes from”. Fortunately, Rechtshaid beat cancer, and his bond with his girlfriend is stronger than ever.
