dr. Phil McGraw offers plenty of sage advice, and when it comes to parenting, he’s got real-world experience after raising his sons, Jay and Jordan McGraw.
The TV personality and his wife, author and podcast host Robin McGraw, married in 1976 and have since had two children together.
Dr. Phil’s sons have followed closely in his footsteps – especially Jay. Older son McGraw works in production, while Jordan is a singer. Although neither dispenses advice on TV like their dad, both have received words of wisdom from psychologists.

When Jordan and wife Morgan Stewart were worried about leaving their daughter Row on their first date after the baby was born, Dr. Phil offered some guidance.
“I don’t care how much you love your child. You need to rest and recharge your batteries,” he recalled Today show. “It’s also important for the child because he learns: ‘Hey, mom and dad are gone, but they’re back!’ That way you’ll escape separation anxiety.”

Dr. Phil and Robin’s oldest son, Jay McGraw, was born on September 12, 1979.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and a law degree from Southern Methodist University, according to his LinkedIn.
Jay’s professional career kept him close to his father. The father and son duo co-founded Stage 29 Productions, of which Jay is CEO and President.
Like his father, Jay appeared on TV: he hosted Fox’s Renovate my family in 2004, and behind the camera he created and executive produced Doctorsplus a number Dr. Phil peculiarities, per Los Angeles Times.
A few years later, he launched RumorFix.com in 2010, which described itself as “an anti-tabloid entertainment website that sets the record straight on celebrity rumors.” The now-defunct platform was later acquired by Hutch Media in 2014, according to a press release.
In addition, he is a The New York Times best-selling author of self-help books for teenagers, including Life strategies for teenagers and Bridging the Gap: A Strategy for Bringing Parents and Teens Together.

Another special moment happened in front of the cameras: Jay met his ex-wife Playboy Another friend Erica Dahm, while hosting Renovate my family. Erica and her two identical triplet sisters, who are also exes Playboy Friends from the game, they served as construction experts on the show.
Jay and Erica were married on August 12, 2006 in an intimate ceremony at his parents’ home in Beverly Hills, California. Dr. Phil served as best man, and their vows were followed by a reception for 400 guests at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Since tying the knot, the couple welcomed daughter Avery Elizabeth in 2010 and son London Phillip in 2011. Older son Phil enjoys documenting his family’s adventures on Instagram.
Jordan McGraw, 37

Dr. Phil and Robin’s younger son, Jordan McGraw, was born on October 21, 1986.
Like his famous father, Jordan chose a career in the spotlight. From 2011 to 2015, he was in the alt-rock band Stars in Stereo before starting a solo career. He collaborated with Sarah Hyland on “Met at a Party” and toured with his friends, the Jonas Brothers, in 2019.
As for what it’s like to raise a famous psychologist, Jordan shared PEOPLE Now that “his tricks don’t work” with him.
In addition to working, Jordan is married to TV presenter and former reality star Morgan Stewart. The two got engaged on July 4, 2020, and a month later announced that they were expecting a girl.
“I’ve been working on my dad’s jokes for years,” the singer joked on Instagram.

The duo — who briefly dated a decade before — tied the knot in a private wedding ceremony on Dec. 9, 2020. (Morgan was previously married to her Rich kids from Beverly Hills costar Brendan Fitzpatrick for three years.)
Jordan and Morgan are now parents to two children who were born almost exactly a year apart: daughter Row Renggli in 2021 and son Gray Oliver in 2022.
According to the couple, they are satisfied with being a family of four. When Morgan returned to Night pop co-host duties in June 2022, shared that Jordan had a vasectomy.
Fast forward, the singer and TV personality are enjoying parenthood, including throwing birthday parties in honor of their children.
