All About Elle King's Parents, Actor Rob Schneider and Former Model London King

Elle King made her mark as the only daughter of her famous parents, actor Rob Schneider and model London King.

The “Ex’s & Oh’s” singer was born in Saturday night live comedian and London on July 3, 1989 in Los Angeles. She was called Tanner Elle Schneider, but decided to take her mother’s nickname as her stage name to separate herself from her father in the industry.

“I wanted to be myself. I never wanted to borrow money from anybody and I worked hard for my family and for myself,” she told PEOPLE in February 2023. “I want to build a life for myself, and I want to know that I did that .”

Elle grew up in Ohio with her mother and stepfather and rarely saw her father. However, as adults, the two have reconnected and now have the relationship she “always wanted,” she told PEOPLE in October 2018.

“My father and I have a wonderful and really wonderful, loving relationship with terrible boundaries,” she said in 2023. “I love my dad very much.”

London is a former model

Before embarking on a career as a doula, London was a model in the 1990s. She also tried her hand at acting with credits in the 2000s A better way to die and in 2002 Callingaccording to her IMDb.

However, after 2002 she did not pursue a creative career and instead works as a doula, assisting women in childbirth.

Rob is a comedian

Elle’s father is well known in Hollywood after working as a writer and comedian Saturday night live between 1990 and 1994. He is also a frequent collaborator of Adam Sandler, including films such as 1998. The boy from the water and in 2004 50 first dates. In total, Rob starred in 15 films with Sandler.

When Sandler was presented with the 2023 Mark Twain Award for American Humor, Rob gave a speech in his honor, joking that he wanted to make 50 more movies with the comedian. He concluded the presentation with a song he dedicated to the actor about living together since youth SNL.

Rob and London married in 1988 but split a year after welcoming Elle in 1990. Rob went on to work on SNL the same year, while Elle moved to Ohio with her mother.

“My whole childhood, my dad was a workaholic,” she told PEOPLE in 2018, so she rarely saw him.

In 2000, London remarried Ella’s stepfather, Justin Tesa, when she was 11 years old. Although she is close with Tessa, Elle told PEOPLE in 2023 that she still feels the absence of her father.

“I was a chubby little girl with a dad who didn’t visit me often and everyone made fun of me and was mean to me because of it,” she said.

Elle had a strained relationship with her father growing up

Up until 2012, Elle said she didn’t speak to her father at all, including when she released her first self-titled EP.

“He wasn’t even in my life. He got married and had a kid and we didn’t even talk,” she told PEOPLE.

In 2011, Rob married his third wife, Patricia Azarcoya Schneider, and the couple had two children: Miranda and Madeline. The adjustment was difficult for Elle and she didn’t want to be known as just Rob’s daughter while starting out in the music industry.

“Growing up as someone who was chubby, awkward, funny, OCD and weird and quirky and awkward but super sensitive, I had to really fight to be OK as me. So I didn’t want to be known as someone else’s kid,” she said. Ella.

During an appearance on Bunnie XO’s in August 2024 Stupid blonde podcast, Elle said her dad sent her to “fat camp” as a kid.

“I was, like, a really, really difficult kid,” she said. “Dad sent me to a fat camp. And then one year I got into trouble because I sprained my ankle and didn’t lose any weight. Very toxic and very stupid.”

She reconnected with Rob because of her sisters

Despite the strained relationship, after the birth of her sisters, Elle decided to make an effort around her father, with whom she wanted to be close.

“We’ve both grown up a lot. And you realize what’s important,” she told PEOPLE. “He has children – I wanted my sisters to have fond childhood memories of me when they grow up.”

She added: “Family is really so important. So through that, I just showed up and tried to be good for them, it really made it easier because there were no bad motives. When it comes to kids, the bulls— kind of disappear. I love him.”

Now, Rob is her “biggest supporter,” she told PEOPLE. “Like, every other day I’ll get messages in all caps like, ‘Your album is going to change the world! I can’t wait for your fans to hear what you’ve done! I love you! I’m so proud of you!’ And that is a beautiful, wonderful thing,” she said.

For Elle’s 34th birthday in July 2023, Rob penned a sweet tribute to his eldest daughter on Instagram, praising her for being an “awesome mum” to her son Lucky and showing her around with love.

“I am in awe of your incredible spirit, determination and incredible talent! Thanks for Lucky!” he wrote. “You are such a great inspiration to me and your sisters and Paty! We love you and can’t wait to see and hug you soon!”

London helped Elle give birth to a child

Elle gave birth to her first child, Lucky, on September 1, 2021 with the help of her mother, who was her doula. Five days after giving birth, Elle took to Instagram to thank her mom for her help during the birth.

“This person is my best friend,” she wrote in the caption. “She helped us get the whole house ready and even though Lucky ended up with a tummy tuck, she was my doula through the whole process, and most importantly, she was the best mom I could have asked for.”

She added that the picture shows her mum cooking Elle’s placenta to “encapsulate it for all the amazing benefits”.
