All About Lacey Chabert’s Daughter, Julia Mimi Bella Nehdar

Lacey Chabert is a proud working mom. The Mean girls star and her husband David Nehdar have one daughter: Julia Mimi Bella Nehdar.

Although Chabert told PEOPLE she felt “so uncomfortable” at one point during her pregnancy, it was all worth it when Julia was born. She explained: “It’s true, what people say, you watch them grow up and you really picture yourself doing it all over again.”

Two weeks after welcoming her daughter, Chabert reflected on the experience of giving birth, sharing with PEOPLE that meeting her for the first time was “the most special moment” of her life. “In the delivery room, they laid Julia on my chest and my heart completely melted. She was so peaceful,” she said.

“I immediately fell deeply in love with her,” Chabert continued. “The sheer joy of finally being able to see and kiss her sweet little face was a moment I will cherish forever. She is truly a blessing from God.”

Since then, Christmas waltz the actress said that Julia is “No. 1 priority” in life, although she hopes to set a good example for her daughter by being a busy mother.

“I’m very grateful to be able to continue working,” she told PEOPLE. “I hope to give her that example so that she knows that you can do anything, but with a lot of help and support! ”

Chabert and Nehdar welcomed their daughter Julia on September 1, 2016, weighing 7 lbs., 3 oz.

She announced the birth of her daughter on Instagram, sharing a photo of the newborn wrapped in a pink fur blanket. In the caption, she called Julia her “heart’s deepest dream come true,” adding, “I love you more than I could ever say. Welcome to this big beautiful world sweet girl!”

The actress revealed that she shared with her family on Hallmark that she was pregnant Home and family in July 2018, Chabert and Nehdar broke the news to her parents on Christmas Eve by gifting them a jumpsuit and tiny gloves with the message “My first Christmas”. She said her parents were confused by the gifts until they realized it was a pregnancy announcement, which left them in tears.

Chabert gave followers a glimpse of her first days with her daughter when she celebrated Julia’s 7th birthday in September 2023. To mark the occasion, the actress posted a sweet photo of herself holding newborn Julia just days after her birth.

“You light up our lives with your sparkling spirit. We love you more than words can describe,” she wrote in the description.

Her name has a special meaning

While some fans may believe that Chabert named her daughter after Neve Campbell’s character on the Fox drama party of five, she was actually named after Chabert’s mother.

The actress shared with PEOPLE the inspiration behind her daughter’s name, explaining, “My mother and I have always had a very close relationship, so I wanted to honor my mom by naming my daughter Julia as well.”

To mark Mother’s Day in May 2019, Chabert reflected on her daughter’s namesake in a social media post. “I am so glad that I named Julia after such a special woman. I could never thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me,” she wrote on Instagram alongside their old picture.

Chabert, who has starred in more than 30 Hallmark movies, has found a balance between motherhood and career. Before welcoming her daughter, she spoke to PEOPLE about how her baby would affect her job, saying she intended to return to work as soon as possible, but knew things would be different.

“I want to take jobs where I can have a child with me,” Chabert said. “I just don’t want to miss out on my child growing up.”

Chabert told the BUILD Series in March 2017 that before Julia’s birth, her main concern was whether her husband could come or whether the project was not working according to their schedules. Since becoming a mom, Chabert said her daughter is now “the most important thing” to consider in her decisions.

“It’s not just about my marriage, it’s about what’s right for the family and the child,” she said. “I’m lucky that my job allows me to bring her on set with me, which is really nice.”

Chabert said Home and family in January 2020 that Julia came to visit her on the set during filming Winter in Vail, where she experienced cold and snow for the first time. A year before, Chabert revealed on the same show that Julia also came to the set during filming All Of My Heart: The Weddinga moment she described as “so neat.”

“Even as a child, I dreamed of one day being a mom and being a working actress, there’s not a day that goes by that I’m not grateful for that,” she said. “And having my daughter on my lap and being by her side and having these adventures with me is what my dreams have always been about.”

She’s “the boss’s baby”

In interviews over the years, Chabert affectionately referred to her daughter as “the boss’s baby.” She joked in the BUILD series in an October 2019 interview that her daughter runs her life, explaining, “I say, ‘Well, what are we doing today, Julia?’ ”

Chabert continued, “It was my birthday recently, and my husband said, ‘What do you want to do for your birthday?’ And she said, ‘We want to go to Disneyland.’ ”

She said Access to Hollywood when Julia was 2, she was “so sassy,” explaining, “Yesterday she said ‘Mommy, go, stop,’ like she was whispering to me because I embarrassed her in front of people. But she’s also a mama’s girl, we’re tied at the hip.”

The actress echoed Julia’s “cheeky” nature when she appeared on Hey! News’ mom2mom, describing his daughter as “a handful”. She explained: “She’s fun and sassy and so sweet, and she outsmarts us, and we always joke that she’s kind of bossy; she is the boss of the house.”

She saw her mother’s work – including Mean girls

Julia saw her mom in action both on set and on screen.

Chabert recalled the hilarious moment The Kelly Clarkson Show in January 2022 about her daughter’s first sighting bad girls, or at least part of the movie. The actress said that she came home from work one day and her husband mentioned that he and Julia “watched a few scenes from it” together.

“I say, ‘Okay,’ and [Julia] he says, ‘Mom, I didn’t know you were Gretchen Wieners. Did you know that’s your name?’ ” she said. “It’s so funny to even hear that name out of her mouth.”

Chabert specifically pointed out one scene her daughter saw from the Tina Fey film in which she, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams and Amanda Seyfried dance to “Jingle Bell Rock” for a winter talent show.

Chabert said further PEOPLE Now, “She started laughing, so I said, ‘I think she recognizes me!’ ”

Still, the actress mostly sticks to showing Julia her Hallmark movies because they’re “pretty safe to watch,” as she explained to Access to Hollywood.

As for whether Chabert would let her daughter become a child actress like her, she said it’s unlikely until she grows up. The Pull out the holly The star explained that while she “had a lot of experience in the business growing up,” it’s “different” now.

“It’s definitely not something I would push, but if later in life it turns out to be her passion, then of course you better believe I’ll do everything I can to help her,” added Chabert. “But for now he can just watch movies.”

She grows out of the spotlight

As a new mom, Chabert initially shared her daughter’s moments on social media. In recent years, however, she began hiding Julia’s face in photos by putting an emoji over it or hiding her face from the camera to protect her privacy.

The actress spoke with BUILD Series about her decision to keep her personal life – including her family – private.

Chabert said she is “very protective” of her loved ones and is careful about what she says publicly, especially about her daughter.

“Now as a parent, I think parents should obviously control when and where their child’s picture is shown or shared, or not,” she said. “It’s everyone’s personal decision and I think it’s a lot easier with social media.”
