The internet’s obsession with Pedro Pascal grew even more when he sweetly shared his support for his younger sister, Lux Pascal, on the day she came out as a transgender woman in February 2021.
Lux is an up-and-coming actress and model who studied theater in her native Chile before graduating from the prestigious Juilliard School in New York in May 2023. She is best known for appearing alongside her brother in Narcosas well as her roles in Spanish language series, 2019 La Jauría, and the movie, 2022 La California.
From her rising acting career to the support she received from her brother during her transition and at major events including her Juilliard graduation, here’s everything you need to know about Lux Pascal and her strong relationship with The Mandalorian star.

Lux was born on June 4, 1992 in Orange County, California. Her mother, a child psychologist, and father, a fertility doctor, fled their home in Chile during the dictatorship of General Augusto Pinochet in 1976, first seeking asylum in Denmark before moving to San Antonio, Texas. They eventually moved to Orange County, where her older brother Pedro grew up, he revealed in an interview with Esquire. Shortly after Lux’s arrival, she returned with her parents to their native Chile, where she grew up.
She is the youngest of three siblings: older sister Javiera, as well as older brothers Nicolás and Pedro. After she returned to Chile with her parents and Nicolás, Pedro would visit – and soon discovered that his younger sister, who is 17 years his junior, was the real head of the household.
“She immediately took over the household. When my older sister and I came to visit, we were like intruders,” he said Esquire. “Our mother was her mother, but it was absurd for us to think that we were in any way entitled to that woman’s attention.”

The actress came out publicly as a trans woman in February 2021, in a cover story for the Spanish that magazine. In the feature, she spoke for the first time about her transition, revealing that she began hormone therapy last July.
Translated from her native Spanish, Lux shared that her family has been incredibly supportive of her transition, explaining that it’s “something that comes very naturally to everyone in my family.” She added, “It’s almost something they expected to happen.”
Lux added that it doesn’t pain her to think about her past and she has no problem looking at photos of herself before transitioning. “I don’t stress about looking at my old photos,” she explained, “The same thing happens to me with theater: I see someone doing what they love.”

The last of us star proudly shared Lux’s photo that cover story on her Instagram, sharing the news of her transition with her followers. In the caption, he expressed his love for his sister, writing “Mi hermana, mi corazón, nuestra Lux”, which translates to “my sister, my heart, our Lux”.
In an interview, Lux expressed her gratitude for her brother and his support, noting that he “was an important part of this. He’s also an artist and he served as my guide. He was one of the first people to give me the tools to start shaping my identity.”
She showed herself to him as trans over FaceTime, she revealed – and he had the sweetest reaction. “He asked me how I was feeling, because I remember he was a little worried”. When she told him she was happy, he quickly congratulated her.
“Perfect, this is amazing,” Lux recalled Pascal gushing at her.
When asked how he copes with the public’s reaction to her transition, he said Esquire that it was not his place to “speak for her,” but that “she is and always has been one of the most powerful people and personalities I have ever known.” He noted that he always looks out for her, adding, “My protective side is deadly, but I need her more than she needs me.”
In addition to his support of Lux, the actor has proudly displayed his ally and support of the LGBTQIA community in real life and on social media, sharing photos of the rainbow flag on Instagram following the March 2023 trans rights attacks as well as during previous Pride months.
She previously identified as non-binary

In her cover story, Lux shared that she didn’t feel confident enough in her sense of self to transition early. “I think if I was confident enough in myself, I would have changed in adolescence. At school, I trusted my classmates,” she explained, adding that she first came out as gay and later as non-binary to her family, before eventually feeling ready to proudly declare that she is a woman.
“Coming out as gay didn’t cost me anything, but deep down I wasn’t. It was just a step on the staircase, but it wasn’t me,” she said. “It was easy to say,” she said of her coming out, “but the truth was, ‘Ugh, if you really knew how I feel . . .”
Although she embraces her transition, she remains a proud advocate for the non-binary community. “Moving through the world as a woman is much simpler for me, but I still advocate for non-binary identities to have a place in society,” she explained, noting that activism and representation are incredibly important to her.
“We need trans activists who are good, smart, informed and who can be strong voices against transphobia, homophobia and racism,” she said.

From attending her graduation at Juilliard to clearing the schedule for her theater productions, the actor shows up for his younger sister as often as possible. He proudly posed with her when the actress graduated from Julliard in May 2023.
When she starred in the Juilliard production Who and what earlier that year, he and his family busily arranged for everyone to attend, flying into NYC from all over the world. It’s been a year since he last saw her — the two made eye contact in April 2022 when he brought her along to the premiere of his movie The unbearable weight of immense talent – and making time for her was of utmost importance, he said Esquire. “I’m getting worried when I’ll be back again,” he says. “So I just try to see her as much as possible.”
He shared a similar sentiment when he marked her birthday in 2021, lamenting in an Instagram caption: “I would do anything to spend this day with my sister.” In the carousel post, there are several photos of Lux modeling, under which he wrote: “Since I can’t, I’ll just show her off.”
