Waterhouse and The Batman actor first started dating in 2018 and quietly got engaged in December 2023, a source told PEOPLE.

“They are engaged. They both want to get married. It’s important to them,” the source said at the time, adding that Pattinson “can’t wait to be a dad.”

The Daisy Jones and six The actress first announced that she was pregnant in a sweet reveal during her performance at the Corona Capital Festival in November 2023.

Dressed in a sparkly pink minidress adorned with sparkly feathers, she told the crowd: “I’m extra sparkly today because I thought it might distract you from something else going on.”

She then opened her coat, revealing her baby bump as the crowd cheered. “I’m not sure if it’s working,” she joked before starting to sing.

After she revealed the news, a source told PEOPLE that Pattinson and Waterhouse were “thrilled” to be expecting.

“He and Suki are very serious and have been. The arrival of the baby is an absolute joy for them,” the insider said. “They are delighted beyond description.”

Another source added: “They are ready for a baby and are looking forward to becoming parents. Even though they are both working professionals, it is something they want. They know it will change their lives and they are excited.”

After her first reveal, Waterhouse has proudly sported her growing baby bump on red carpets throughout awards season, starting with her debut at the 2023 Fashion Awards in London in December.

She posed on the red carpet in a strapless red H&M Studio dress, holding her baby bump for the cameras.

A month later, Waterhouse walked the carpet at the Primetime Emmy Awards in January 2024 in a gorgeous red Valentino dress with a cutout that showed off her growing belly. She said Hey! News on the carpet that the designer had to adjust for her during the checks.

“I tried it on a few months ago, but it wasn’t even — like, I had to hold it,” she said. “The fitting was that I was just holding it against my body, so they had to take it apart, and they had to redesign this dress to fit the bump, but she’s really happy that it worked.”

Ahead of the baby’s arrival, Waterhouse’s close friend and Daisy Jones and six Costar Camila Morrone has already championed a special role in a newborn’s life: godmother!

“I’m so happy for them. They’re amazing people. She’s going to be the best mom,” Morrone told Extra in January 2024.

“I actually want to be a godmother. I asked her, which as a godmother you shouldn’t really do; they should give it to you, but I asked. So we’ll see,” she added. .

The following month, Waterhouse shared the first photo of the newborn and revealed at Coachella that she and Pattinson had a baby girl.

Waterhouse shared mirror selfies on Instagram in April 2024 wearing an open cardigan and Frida Mom Postpartum underwear, showing off her post-baby body.

In the caption, she referred to the “fourth trimester” and how she was being kind to herself while her body was recovering.

“The fourth trimester was…humbling! The postpartum period was filled with exhilarating joy, so many laughs, tears, so many hormones!” wrote Waterhouse. “I’m proud of all my body has accomplished and proud of the kindness and grace I’ve given myself during this recovery period. 💕.”

In July 2024, Waterhouse and her daughter appeared on the cover British Vogue. The actress spoke candidly with the publication about motherhood — especially the moment she found out she was having a baby girl, calling her a “mom in tears.”

“I thought, ‘Oh my God, what am I going to have to go through [you] passed with me?’ I was such a little k—-,” Waterhouse admitted. “[My mum] he usually likes to tell his scary teenage stories, but she said, ‘No, no, you were great. You were amazing, you were fine.’ ”

Waterhouse praised Pattinson’s fathering skills

While appearing on Today in September 2024, Waterhouse said that although she changes the most diapers, Pattinson is better at it.

“Changing diapers … he really excels at it and enjoys it. He thinks it’s fun. Surprise, and everything,” she said.
