Meet Tommy DeVito’s parents.

The 25-year-old NFL player has made headlines in recent weeks — not just because the undrafted rookie was selected by the New York Giants to lead the team at quarterback, but because he still lives in his childhood home in New Jersey with his mom and dad.

DeVito is the son of dad Tom and mom Alexandra, who raised him and his brother in Cedar Grove. With a new gig as an NFL player on the Giants, his living situation was a “no-brainer.”

“Honestly, I don’t know if I could find a place closer to this than where I live. It takes me 12 minutes to get here,” DeVito told ESPN of his journey to MetLife Stadium before his Nov. 12 career opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

“Tommy was born for this,” said his father Tom New York Post. “I’m not surprised and I’m not trying to sound cocky, but Tommy has been training for his since he was 5,” the proud dad added confidently. “People think, ‘Oh, he’s undrafted,’ and they wonder why he’s here… He’s here because [Giants coach Brian] Daboll knows he has a diamond in the rough.”

They have two sons, Tommy and Max

Tom and Alexandra are the parents of two sons, Tommy and Max, whom they raised in Cedar Grove, New Jersey.

Both of their sons played football in high school, though DeVito played at Don Bosco Prep while Max played at Cedar Grove. After graduating, DeVito played college football at Syracuse and Illinois, while Max played for Salve Regina University.

In May 2022, Max earned a master’s degree in business administration from the Rhode Island institution, according to his LinkedIn, and shared several photos from Newport on his Instagram.

Tom works in plumbing and heating

Tom works for a plumbing and heating company in New Jersey, according to his family service Facebook page. DeVito said New York Post that his dad “used to work 100 hours a week.”

Alexandra frequently praises DeVito and Max on social media, from sweet birthday tributes to photos of their family outings. In recent months, she shared her excitement about DeVito’s opportunity to start for the New York Giants against the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 12.

“His DREAM to start in the NFL,” she captioned an Instagram post that included a video clip of NBC’s broadcast announcing her son’s progress with the team.

In another Instagram post from a few days ago, she shared a video compilation showing several highlights of DeVito’s football career, her caption oozing with excitement.

“Just heard them mention Tommy’s name on 104.3 while driving!!! Every time I hear someone say his name I freak out!!! Go Tommy!!! All the best for this season and always😄❤️,” she wrote.

Tom ‘never missed’ a Tommy DeVito game

When you talk to Post, DeVito praised his father and his dedication to him as a rising athlete. “He never missed a game,” the Giants QB said of Tom, who always showed up despite his busy work schedule.

“He traveled to every college game I started,” DeVito continued. “He was here for everyone [Giants] minicamp and practice.”

Alexandra makes Tommy’s bed while he lives at home

Despite being a professional athlete, DeVito still lives in his home in New Jersey with his parents. Ahead of his first NFL start on Nov. 12, the undrafted free agent revealed to ESPN that his living situation was a “no-brainer.”

“Everything I need is right there in the house,” he said of his childhood home in Cedar Grove, New Jersey — just a hop, skip and a jump from the Giants’ practice field and stadium.

“The decision was made as this level of football is stressful for a rookie, especially at full-back,” he continued. “A lot is happening, a lot of meetings. So everything outside of football is handled by my family.”

And when DeVito said “everything outside of football,” he meant it.

“I don’t have to worry about laundry, what I’m going to eat for dinner, chicken cutlets and everything waiting for me when I get there. My mom still makes my bed,” he told ESPN. me.”

Tom knew early on that his son was destined to be a leader

In addition to supporting DeVito at his games, Tom attended “every” high school practice of his son’s at Don Bosco. He also later drove it home when he was unable to drive.

Tom recalled a specific moment when he saw his son as a “leader” in a conversation with him. Post. One night when he went to pick up DeVito from practice, he said his son stayed up late to watch a teammate in a punishment-like workout, a “period” he likened to “prison.”

“I was waiting for Tommy one day to take him home and I was like, ‘Where’s Tommy? Where’s my son?'” Tom recalled. He said DeVito “wouldn’t let” his co-star “do his period alone.”

“It was like reporting yourself to prison,” Tom added. “Right there. That’s when I saw that this kid was a leader. That’s when I knew that this kid understood, he knew how to lead,” he continued. “That was the most impressive thing I’ve ever seen him do on the field. You’re nothing if you’re not a leader at that position.”
