All About Troian Bellisario and Patrick J. Adams' 2 Kids, Aurora and Elliot

Troian Bellisario and Patrick J. Adams are raising two daughters together.

The couple first met on the set of the show in 2009 and later married in December 2016 in a ceremony in Southern California. They welcomed their first daughter, Aurora, two years later in October 2018. Bellisario and Adams expanded their family again in May 2021 with the arrival of their second daughter, Elliot.

The couple tries to keep their private life out of the spotlight, but occasionally share a glimpse of their family on social media. For National Daughters Day in September 2023, Bellisario shared a rare photo of her daughters on Instagram.

“Today is supposed to be #nationaldaughtersday, but then I don’t understand what literally every other day of the year is… I couldn’t be more grateful to be the mother of these two wild forces of nature,” she wrote in the caption. “You have always been and always will be with my favorite human beings.”

In July 2022 Sweet little liars alum opened up to The Nerds of Color about being a busy mother of two and how she approaches projects differently now because of “how much energy and time it takes to portray a character.”

“I’m not able to just do a bunch of things the way I used to be when I was 20, 21 or something, I had more time,” she continued. “And so I think when I’m reading a role, it has to grab me in a way that says, ‘Oh, this is worth not putting my daughters to bed that night.’ This is worth saying, ‘Mommy has to go to work, because this is really important to me,’ so they learn, like, ‘Okay, you go to work too, and sometimes that means you can’t always be together, but you’re doing something you love.’ ”

She added: “I just want to do the work, I’m in a very lucky place to be able to do it now, which will allow me to be with them and also allow me to come to work excited. ”

Bellisario and Adams welcomed their first child together, daughter Aurora Adams, on October 4, 2018. Days later, the couple announced their daughter’s birth on Instagram, each sharing a photo of the newborn’s little finger wrapped around their hands.

“The world just got 8 pounds heavier. Thank you to everyone who fought for and protected our privacy during this amazing and beautiful time in our lives,” Adams wrote in her caption, while Bellisario shared, “I couldn’t be more proud to be her mother. Bringing a new little girl into this world and doing my best to raise her to be kind, strong and whatever the hell she wants to be.”

Two weeks later, Suits star told PEOPLE about life as a new dad. “Oh man, we’re two weeks in. He just taught me how much sleep means,” he joked. “But it’s good, it’s great.”

In February 2019, during an appearance on the Katie Lowes podcast, Crib KatieBellisario opened up about her initial fear of raising her daughter.

“When we found out we were having a girl, I was shocked, I was shocked. Of course I was worried – she said. “I was thinking about my relationship with my mother. I thought about my history with my eating disorder. This is terrible.”

After welcoming Aurora, Bellisario told Lowes she felt an “instant connection” with her daughter and her fears vanished. “Right away, I just didn’t want to be apart from her. I couldn’t stop staring at her. I immediately felt love, responsibility, admiration for her. She was great,” she said.

Bellisario and Adams kept Aurora’s name a secret until her first birthday when the actress shared a sweet tribute to their daughter on Instagram. Talking to Teen Vogue in November 2019, Bellisario revealed the inspiration behind Aurora’s name.

“We had a different name, and then we thought about names for boys, because we didn’t know what gender it would be,” she said. “We were looking at the name Helios, and then we thought Helios had a sister named Eos, and we didn’t like Eos. But then we learned in Roman mythology that Eos was Aurora, who is the goddess of the dawn.”

Bellisario added, “We thought it would be nice for her to be our dawn of a new day in our life, and then we said, ‘Well, it’s, you know, loaded and unwieldy and really, like, a lot to name.’ So we went back to our other names. [But] Aurora kept appearing in Patrick’s life and mine. It just wouldn’t go away.”

While their daughter also shares a name with a Disney princess, Bellisario told the Teen Vogue that she did not consider the relationship because she “thought about it in terms of historical context”.

Bellisario and Adams are very protective of Aurora’s privacy, but the actress detailed her husband’s close relationship with their daughter in a post for Father’s Day 2020.

“The place you hold for our daughter is so sacred. She is safest in your arms, fiercely protected by your heart, and always laughs the most at your jokes (always, dammit),” she wrote. “Before I knew I was pregnant, you dreamed of her, before we knew that a girl would be born, you were looking for a daughter. You and Aurora have a bond that is so tightly woven, all I can do is step back and look in gratitude.”

In October 2022, Bellisario celebrated Aurora’s fourth birthday by sharing a carousel of photos of the toddler through the years.

“I can’t believe I’ve only known you for four years. You shaped me in a way no other human being could,” she wrote alongside the EE Cummings song. “You made me a mother and I am very grateful that you did that. There is no one else like you. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life watching you grow.”

Bellisario and Adams welcomed their second daughter, Elliot Rowena Adams, on May 15, 2021.

The proud parents each shared their surprising baby news on Instagram. Bellisario posted a black and white photo of herself holding the newborn and wrote: “Ms. Elliot Rowena Adams joined us on May 15th under the craziest of circumstances. A brand new ERA for this family. Welcome my love.”

On his page, Adams shared a photo of Elliot’s hand holding his finger, writing, “+1…..Welcome to the fun house Ms. Elliot Rowena Adams. May your life be as unique and exciting as your arrival.”

During another podcast appearance Katie’s Cribs in June 2021, Bellisario and Adams spoke openly about how Sweet little liars the actress gave birth to Elliot while driving in a car. The couple said they pulled into the parking lot of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles when Bellisario began experiencing intense contractions.

“I’m starting to have to push the belt away from me,” she said. “It hurts a lot, but I also think: ‘I can’t be in this position anymore.’ ”

“As soon as I press the button and grab the card, she screams,” Adams added. “… I turn around, and by the time I turn my head, Troian is already there [fully on her] hands and knees … and we went nuclear.”

After trying to get help, Adams said there was “no need to panic,” and had to hand Elliot over himself, which “all happened in the span of about three minutes.” After the newborn came out, Bellisario said she was relieved to hear her daughter’s cry.

“I just look over my shoulder, because I’m still on all fours … and I see Patrick holding her upside down and she’s crying, so I say, ‘She’s alive, she’s fine. She’s breathing,'” she said.

A month after giving birth, Elliot made her big screen debut in Bellisario’s 2022 film. A doula. Talking to Teen Vogue in July 2022, the actress revealed that Elliot played her character Deb’s newborn daughter, who appears at the end of the film.

“It was funny because we actually shot the shot of me looking at her while she was still in my belly, when I was eight months pregnant. I looked at the doll and imagined, but then we took a photo of her when she was outside and, I think, a month old,” she explained. “I held her in my arms and they pointed the camera at her, and it was real magic. She opened her eyes and really smiled. I said, ‘Are you kidding me. What a ham.’ ”

In May 2022, Bellisario celebrated Elliot’s first birthday by sharing a sweet tribute to the child on Instagram.

“Every thing about you was a surprise to me. From the way you came into this world to the way you move through it,” she wrote alongside a photo of Elliot staring out the plane window. “Every day you teach me that my job as your mother is to love you fiercely and to get out of your way. Thank you for changing my world in ways I could never have imagined. I will forever admire you, funny bear.”
