Created by Top Down Games in 2020, All Star Tower Defense is a popular tower defense game featuring some of the most popular manga and anime characters, including Naruto, One Piece, Demon Slayers, etc. Rather than fortifying towers with guns and turrets, the defensive Roblox units are characters with various strengths, superpowers, and special abilities.
Each unit in the game is subdivided by tiers, with the SSS tier indicating the rarest and most difficult units to obtain in the game. After SSS Tier, the order of rarity ranks from SS Tier, S+ Tier, S Tier, A Tier, B Tier, C Tier, D Tier, and E Tier.
Expert Sorcerer/Reigen (S+ Tier)
Fans of Pyscho Mob 100 should recognize Expert Sorcerer Reigen Arataka, the rarest S+ tier unit in ASTD. In addition to having the third-highest range in the game behind 6P Naruto and Perfect Susane-o Sasuke, Reigen is a 6-star ground and Aera of effect type of unit that cannot be accessed through any evolutions.
As such, the only way to obtain the rare unit is to open the Royal Capsules, giving players a minuscule 4/1000 chance for success (.04%). Reigen is also the only 6-star unit from Psycho Mob 100, making the unit extra rare.
Zaruto (GRR II)/Naruto (GRR II) (SS Tier)
Of the three SS Tier units in the game, Zaruto (GRII)/Naruto (GRII) is the least rare to obtain. The legendary capsule is still extremely difficult to acquire in the game, but if successful on the first slot, Zaruto GR II will grant players a Tailed Beast Chakra that comes with two tails in the back.
The SS-Tier 6-star ground and AoE unit must be obtained by opening legendary capsules, which may also require a 570 deployment cost and 7 upgrade levels. Therefore, the rarity is worth the value.
Water Goddess/Aqua (SS Tier)
With just a .25% chance to be obtained, Aqua the Water Goddess from the anime Konusuba is the rarest unit in the game that could only be obtained by using Super Fire Works at the Summerfest Event. The SS Tier 5-tar ground and AoE unit had only 5,000 available in the game at launch, all of which were found by players in a few days by July 2021.
Thanks to an upgrade by the game developers, Aqua now bestows a blessing to players who acquire her by placing a circle of water around them for protection.
Zaruto (GRR III)/Naruto (GRR III) (SS Tier)
The rarest SS Tier unit in the game belongs to Zaruto GRR III/Naruto GRR III, a Royal Legendary capsule with a minuscule chance of acquiring. Essentially a rarer version of Zaruto GRR II, obtaining the unit in slots 1-3 will grant players a triple-tail Tailed Beast Chakra upgrade.
The 6-star unit also has a 642 deployment cost, 7-level upgrade, and damage range of 180-6720, making the unit more powerful as he progresses through the game.
Legendary Borul/Broly Z (SSS Tier)
Broly Z is a reskin of Legendary Borul, the ultra-brave character from the movie Dragon Ball Z: Broly – The Legend of Super Saiyan. The SSS Tier 5-star hill unit is very hard to obtain, as the developers unintentionally removed the unit from the Pumpkin Capsule to unknown capsules.
Given to staff members working on the ASTD Wiki page or ASTD Trello, the Broly Z unit can only be currently obtained through trade and nothing else. So unless a player happens to know the right people and have tradeable assets to swap for it, Broly Z is impossible to get.
Club Beast/Kaido (SSS Tier)
With less than 300 units available, Club Beast Kaido from the One Piece series is currently the third-rarest unit in ASTD. The SSS Tier 6-star unit is not part of any evolution and was briefly obtainable by reaching the Infinite Mode leaderboard. However, the unit was replaced with Hashirama after a month or so.
Despite being among the three rarest units in the game and one of the best One Piece characters, most fans agree that Kaido is not worth the trouble. With limited range, weak attack scores, and only two upgrades, Kaido proves that scarcity doesn’t always equal value.
First Wood Bender/Hashirama (SSS Tier)
With less than 30 units currently available, Hashirama Senju is the first Hokage from the mega-popular Naruto series is the second-rarest unit in ASTD. After replacing Kaido a month into the game, Hashirama can only be acquired by topping the Infinite Mode leaderboard at the end of the month.
The SSS Tier 6-star unit has an overall value to match its rarity, boasting a price 29,000 overall cost, a massive 11 upgrades, damage rates exceeding 45,000, and powerful passive skills akin to Merlin’s magic.
Death/Ryuk (SSS Tier)
With only 15 units currently available in All Star Tower Defense, Death/Ryuk from the ultra-popular Death Note series is the rarest to find in the game. Moreover, the SSS Tier 6-star unit is only available via trade or by winning video of the week in discord by making a funny ASTD-related home video chosen by the developers as a winner.
Thanks to his trusty Death Orb, Death can deliver huge amounts of damage on his opponents (over 100 million damage points and a full 200% Irwin Buff), which makes the unit extra valuable. With a whopping overall cost of 2.6 million, Death is the scarcest and most invaluable unit in the game to date.
