All the Changes Taylor Swift Made to the Eras Tour Following The Tortured Poets Department Release

Taylor Swift is making big changes with the Eras Tour.

After taking a short break from touring following her concerts in Singapore in March, the “Fortnight” singer returned to the stage on May 9 in Paris, France to kick off a new leg of the tour.

After releasing her 11th studio album Department for tortured poets in April, many Swifties theorized that she might change the setlist to include new songs from the album.

Swift appeared to tease the tour’s changes in late April as she shared a behind-the-scenes look at her rehearsal, which included new costumes, microphones and performances. Further fueling speculation, her dancers released a video of themselves dancing to her new song “So Long, London” in early May.

Apart from adding Department for tortured poets setlist, Swift made a handful of other big changes on the Eras tour, including many new costumes and new performances.

Department for tortured poets was added to the introduction

Swift first teased the plugin from Department for tortured poets at the beginning of the show. In the intro, in which Swift names all of her album titles, she added a clip of her singing the title track, “The Tortured Poets Department.” Additionally, fans noticed that she added the song “What if I told you I’m back?” featured in the song “The Alchemy,” which fans theorize is a reference to her boyfriend Travis Kelce.

There are also completely new costumes

The singer debuted several new costumes during her show in Paris. She started with her Lover donned a bright orange bodysuit, as well as matching shoes and blazer (all Versace) while performing “The Man”.

As she moved into it Fearless era, she debuted a silver and black fringed dress, much more reminiscent of the dress she wore during her original Fearless Tour in 2009 and had a new dress for her Speak now set.

Additionally, she wore a new shirt during her performance of “22,” which read, “This is not Taylor’s Version” (a new addition to the rotation), leaving fans to speculate as to what that could mean.

Her Folklore era also included Alberta Ferretti’s new yellow dress while her in 1989 set included the pink and green two-piece that was giving fans the vibes Ariel’s outfit inside Little Mermaid (which was published in, you guessed it, 1989 and contains the line “Daddy, I love him!” — just like the song onTTPD). The outfit included one pink and one green shoe.

Meanwhile, she Reputation the outfit remained the same: the Roberto Cavalli T-shirt she wore throughout the tour.

Several songs were cut

Along with the addition of songs from the new album, Swift cut several songs from the original set list. Some of the most notable cuts include the previously completed “The Archer.” Lover era, “Long Live”, which was a recent addition to the Speak now set, and several Folklore and Forever songs including “The Last Great American Dynasty” and “Tolerate It”.

There is a new order in the eras

Swift also changed the layout of some eras. In the past, Folklore the era followed her Red set, but in Paris she changed things by having Speak now monitor its performance directly Red’with “All good.”

The second big change is that Folklore and Forever now they are merged into one set. As she sat down at the piano to perform “Champagne Problems,” Swift explained that she always saw the two albums as part of a whole, with Folklore which represent spring/summer and Forever represents autumn/winter. “On the Eras Tour, we reunited the sisters [and] combined them into one chapter,” she saidpranksters may call the new era “Folkmore” or “Everlore.”

The new order of eras is as follows: Lover, Fearless, Red, Speak now, Reputation, Folklore and Forever (now combined), in 1989, Department for tortured poetsacoustic set and Midnight.

There are new visual elements

In addition, there are several new visual elements that appear on the screen as Swift moves from one set to another. The Speak now the set includes what appears to be a visual representation of a blooming flower before two of Swift’s backup dancers hit the stage for an intimate performance.

Following her Reputation set, the screen now has features depiction of a black snake gliding into the forest, transitioning perfectly onto it Folklore and Forever era.

She added Department for tortured poets on the setlist

One of the biggest changes is that Swift has included songs from her new album Department for tortured poets. Next in 1989 set, Swift appears on stage wearing a white dress and watch necklace similar to the one she wore at the Grammys.

During the set, he plays a lot of songs from the 31-song anthology, and some of the most notable ones are “Down Bad”, “Fortnight” and “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” She also includes “So High School,” rumored to be about Kelce, during a quick transition between songs.

He ends the set with a stunning rendition of “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” which includes many visual references to the golden age of film — a nod to Clara Bow, perhaps? — including Swift’s name on the marquee and dancers with top hats and canes.
