Baker Mayfield is going to be a dad!

He and his wife Emily Wilkinson announced the big news on Instagram in December 2023.

“We are thrilled to share that baby girl Mayfield will be joining our crazy crew in early April 2024.” they captioned the joint announcement.

Mayfield and Wilkinson first met in 2017 after a mutual friend introduced them, ESPN writes. The couple got engaged after just six months together and tied the knot in a lavish wedding in California on July 6, 2019.

The NFL quarterback has had a tumultuous career. The former Cleveland Browns player, who was selected by the team with the first overall pick in the 2018 draft, was traded to the Carolina Panthers in July 2022 after the Browns acquired Deshaun Watson to fill the starting quarterback position. After struggling early in the season with the Panthers and suffering an injury, Mayfield was released by the team – and quickly picked up by the Los Angeles Rams. He now plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

So who is Baker Mayfield’s wife? Here’s everything you need to know about Emily Wilkinson and her relationship with the NFL player.

She’s from Nebraska

Wilkinson was born in Nebraska in 1991. She stayed in the state through college, attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she graduated with a degree in business administration in 2013.

After graduation, Wilkinson headed to LA, where she worked as a patient coordinator at a plastic surgeon’s office. According to TMZ, she left her job at Galanis Plastic Surgery in 2018 to move to Cleveland with Mayfield after the Browns drafted him.

She is an influencer

Mayfield isn’t the only one with a high-profile job. Wilkinson fueled a successful career of her own after gaining a large following on Instagram. She has more than 219,000 followers and regularly shares updates with fans about her travels, training and life with Mayfield.

She is one of four children — and her brother was a Vine star

Wilkinson has three siblings: two brothers, Sammy and Benny, and a sister, Annie. Like Wilkinson, her brother Sammy is an internet personality. He first gained a following on the social media platform Vine in 2013, where he frequently collaborated with fellow Vine artists such as Jack & Jack and Nash Grier.

After appearing on Vine, Sammy began a music career (his debut album Ready for war released in 2016) and a clothing line. He is active on social media with more than 1.8 million followers on Instagram, and is currently in a relationship with influencer Corinna Kopf.

She first met Mayfield in 2017 through a mutual friend

A friend of both Mayfield and Wilkinson knew the pair would be perfect for each other and had been trying to match them for months. However, as the couple said Bridesa chance meeting on FaceTime finally brought them together.

While Mayfield was a quarterback for the University of Oklahoma, he was watching his brother’s time after a game when he spotted a face he didn’t recognize among those gathered to watch him play. – He put two and two together and realized that I was the girl our friend had been trying to set up for him all this time! explained Wilkinson.

At first she thought Mayfield was a “typical playboy athlete”

After realizing who Wilkinson was, Mayfield set out to get her attention. The athlete started following and unfollowing her on Instagram several times in order to catch her eye.

A few months later, Mayfield invited Wilkinson to come watch him play in the Rose Bowl. “I assumed he was a typical playboy athlete,” she later told ESPN. However, Wilkinson agreed to have lunch with him the day before the Rose Bowl, even though she expected him to talk all the time about the big game. Instead, Mayfield surprised her by asking questions about her life and future plans.

We haven’t really been apart since then, she said Brides. “It was love at first sight!”

They got engaged after six months of dating

The couple got serious soon after hooking up. Within six months, Mayfield was ready to propose—and she knew how to do it.

The quarterback was filming a documentary at the time and asked Wilkinson to plan a final party with their family and friends. The couple then sat down for their final interview of the series, at which point Mayfield surprised her with a proposal.

“They asked Baker to talk about how we met, which turned into the perfect setup for him to propose!” Wilkinson recalled Brides.

She and Mayfield got married in July 2019

When it came time to plan the wedding, the couple looked at just one place before choosing the perfect spot: Calamigos Ranch in Malibu.

“I’m from Nebraska and Baker is from Texas, so we both really love the outdoors,” Wilkinson said Brides.

After a year of planning, Wilkinson and Mayfield said “I do” in front of 350 guests on July 6, 2019. Several of Mayfield’s NFL colleagues were in attendance, including New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley and Mayfield’s then-Cleveland Browns teammate Odell Beckham Jr. .

A year after their big day, Mayfield celebrated the couple’s first anniversary with a sweet tribute to Wilkinson.

“Happy 1st anniversary to my wonderful wife @emilywmayfield,” he wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the duo dancing at their wedding. “Through all the ups and downs… you’re always there to support me and I’m so grateful for that, and to be a part of your life. I can’t wait to laugh and dance with you on this adventure for years to come!”

She appeared in commercials with Mayfield

Mayfield was known as a spokesman for Progressive Insurance during his time with the Browns. The quarterback starred in a series of aptly titled commercials for the company At home with Baker Mayfieldwho followed him around as he treated Browns Stadium like it was his home.

Wilkinson joined her husband in several spots, in which the pair brushed their teeth in stadium bathrooms, rested on a bed in the locker room and picked out a comically small doormat for their oversized home.

She is Mayfield’s biggest supporter

After Mayfield’s struggles on the field, the quarterback collected several detractors. However, Wilkinson has always stood by her husband, often defending him on Instagram.

After the Browns lost to the Los Angeles Chargers in October 2021, Wilkinson called out fans who blamed Mayfield for the team’s loss.

“You really don’t know what you have. I’ve watched him do his best and change the entire culture at CLE, but he gets so little credit for it,” she wrote in an Instagram Story. “He never asks for recognition and continues to carry the weight day in and day out, despite the hate. If you’re a true fan, SUPPORT our guys. Baker and everyone else. Hate does NOTHING for them.”

Wilkinson is also a constant presence at Mayfield’s games, traveling to support him on the court after wins and losses. On January 8, 2023, she posted a photo of herself on Instagram wearing a blue jacket with Mayfield’s number on the back. “We’re rooting for our favorite #17 💙💛,” Wilkinson wrote in the caption.

She and Mayfield are currently expecting their first child together

In December 2023, Mayfield and Wilkinson announced their pregnancy on Instagram by sharing photos from the maternity shoot. They showed off their first ultrasound photos, with their dog Fergus wearing a “big brother” bandana.

The couple will have a baby girl in April 2024.
