ITV’s brand new dating show My Mum Your Dad is well underway, with a line-up of single parents and their kids hooking up, returning to our screens on Monday night for another week of heartfelt romance.
For those unfamiliar with the show, hosted by Davina McCall, it follows a group of single mums and dads as they head to a farmhouse in the English countryside for a second chance at love.

Unbeknownst to them, their children are watching from a surveillance room in a nearby location and playing Cupid in their parents’ love lives.
One of the contestants nominated by their offspring is Martin H. His 23-year-old daughter Jessica wants her dad to expose himself and get back into the dating world. But who really is Martin H and what has he said about his relationship history? Here’s everything we know…

Martin Henlan is a 56-year-old retired professional basketball player, sportscaster and medical doctor.

Martin, who hails from Birmingham but lives in Epsom, was nominated for the show by his daughter Jessica, who works in modelling, mental health and sales/marketing.
Speaking about his relationship life, Martin said he was reluctant to get his heart broken. “I once fell head over heels in love, scraped my knees, dusted myself off, got up, got my heart broken and walked away and tried again,” he explained. “Now, I’m very reluctant to share, it’s not easy for me to throw myself into it.

“I’m very careful. I’m sick of being hurt. I’m more self-protective.”

Summarizing his relationship history, he continued, “Using the old-fashioned grading system, I’d get a C for effort and a D for delivery. I walked.
“I was a professional athlete for 15 years, I studied in the US on a basketball scholarship, so I’ve been exposed to dating for a long time, but I’ve never been good at it. I’m a serial monogamist.”

As for what he looks for in a partner, Martin said he’s impressed by someone who “smiles and also isn’t put off by my size.”
“I don’t have much of a social life,” he added. “So that I realize there’s more to life than the next basketball comment or taking the kids on vacation.
“I’m big, I’m funny, I’m outgoing and I consider myself a nice guy. I’ve spent 90% of my life in the friend zone… I’m everyone’s best friend.”
