He was jailed for life for the murders of Sgt Christopher Head, Det Con David Wombwell and PC Geoffrey Fox in 1966 in west London.
Roberts lives in a town in central England, where the locals don’t know his true identity.
Hugh Parker, Sgt Head’s friend and colleague, said: “He shouldn’t be out.
“Life was supposed to mean life.”

“If they were killed in the line of duty, then life should mean life for the perpetrators.
“The three cops from Foxtrot One One never got a chance to grow old, and the life sentence for their loved ones continues.”
Former flying squad commander John O’Connor said: “No one in Metohija at the time will ever forget what happened.”
