warn! This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Episode 3. People who know me have long joked about my frequent cameos as the Joker for Din Djarin in various films. Star Wars show, but I actually think Star Wars: Skeleton Crew May be intentional to build potential The MandalorianThe titular hero appears. skeleton crew‘s timeline is rooted in The Mandalorian Era, along with Nikto Pirate Vane, was first introduced The Mandalorian Season 3, maybe even part of it skeleton crewof the cast. Even though the show’s creators say the story doesn’t hinge on the timeline, that doesn’t mean things aren’t moving forward.
As it stands, Vane isn’t even written skeleton crewThe story, as the creators tell it, was that they actually saved the pirates from certain death The Mandalorian Season three integrates him into their story. There’s already quite a bit of thematic overlap between the two shows thanks to Vayne and the other pirates, which makes the stories feel uniquely connected to each other in a way that no other “Mandoverse” show has. Between this and other story elements skeleton crew By episode three, I officially switched from clown to theorist, and here’s why.
Is it just a coincidence that Skeleton Crew is set in the Mandalorian era?
These stories have overlapped
As mentioned before, skeleton crew set in The Mandalorian Times, especially after the events of season three. All the creators have said about the story being timeline-agnostic is that it’s basically not tied to a specific time period until after the success of season three The Mandalorianthey decided to go with The Mandalorian Producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni set their stories in the same era. However, that doesn’t mean they intend to pass up any and all opportunities to connect the two; if there is, it means they certainly have the freedom to do so.
RELATED: All the Pirates Pop Culture References and Easter Eggs in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew (So Far)
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has a lot of fun Easter eggs and meta-references, especially when it comes to pirates from real-life pop culture.
What’s particularly important to me is that the creators were so focused on bringing Pirate Venn into skeleton crew. Vann has some personal vendettas against Din Djarin, once for shooting his associate outside Nevarro’s Cantina (and threatening to do the same to him), and another for helping Bo-Katan. Kryze and the other Mandalorians defeated his captain, the Shard of Gorion, and the Corsair ended his brutal conquest of the main city of Nevarro. It stands to reason that not only would Wayne want revenge, but that Din would also be keeping an eye on the fleeing enemy.
Skeleton Crew Suspiciously Approaches the Undersea Road
Nevarro is located on this hyperspace gateway
Speaking of Venn, the hyperspace passage he and his fellow pirates plundered while targeting Nevarro, known as Hydia Road, is now very close to where the events took place. skeleton crew is happening. So far, most skeleton crewThe story centers around Porto Borgo, a spaceport populated by pirates, smugglers, and more. Port Borgo is so close to the Undersea Way that it seems these pirates and smugglers wanted to make a quick stop at the spaceport before making their fortunes on this densely populated hyperspace corridor.
Therefore, any threat on the Undersea Way is a threat to the duo, and given that Din and the other Mandalorians successfully exposed the pirate occupation of Nevarro, the planet may once again become a target for pirates.
This, of course, closely links Porto Borgo and the other destinations of the TV show’s eponymous cast to other locations along Hydia Road, including Nevarro. As of The Mandalorian After the end of season three, Nevarro has essentially become a home base for Din Djarin and Grogu, as the two have settled into a cabin in that world where they can stay between adventures. Therefore, any threat on the Undersea Way is a threat to the duo, and given that Din and the other Mandalorians successfully exposed the pirate occupation of Nevarro, the planet may once again become a target for pirates.
Skeleton Crew Episode 3 does make Din Djarin a logical part of the story
This sounds like a job for The Mandalorian…
However, the biggest reason why I switched from clowning to full theory has to do with skeleton crew Episode 3. In this episode, Jordé Narwood (Jude Law) manages to get himself and his four children – Wim, Neil, Fern and KB – off the Port Borgo brig to his “Friend” Kh’ymm, who might chart their path to Atyn. What we learn in this episode, however, is that Joad isn’t actually who he says he is. Kh’ymm calls him “Scarlet Jack,” an identity familiar to the New Republic—if only in a negative context.
Possible connections to Din Djarin come into play at various points in this episode. First, all viewers are reminded to hear that Captain Brutus, the pirate captain who replaced Joad, angrily demanded that they put a bounty on Joad’s head after the former pirate captain left Port Borgo – destroying part of it in the process. Although Din Djarin is no longer a member of the Bounty Hunters Guild, he remains closely associated with modern bounty hunting, especially in the stories woven into the TV show’s timeline.

Related Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Episode 3 Ending Explained
Screen Rant tried to find out more about Atdin in Skeleton Crew Episode 3 and what that ending actually means.
The next biggest connection has to do with the New Republic. When Joad (aka Scarlet Jack) brought the children to meet her and investigate Artin’s whereabouts, Qaim secretly placed a call to two New Republic Rangers and their X-Wing counterparts. Most of the New Republic rangers we’ve seen on screen so far, though both pilots are new to us, have been stationed at Adelphi Outpost, where Captain Carson Tevar is stationed land. Of course, this means that Din Djarin is also stationed there, as he agreed to work behind the scenes for Teva and its rangers.
Din Djarin is definitely the kind of person who will do whatever it takes to save his children, as he proved when he saved Grogu early on.
The final layer that really makes me wonder if I’m not just in Joker this time around is the fact that, now, the New Republic knows that not only is Crimson Jack on the run, but that he has four children – and, well, they, it appears, he abducted these kids. Din Djarin is definitely the kind of person who will do whatever it takes to save a child, as he proved when he saved Grogu early on. It was also part of his Mandalorian culture and creed; rescuing foundlings was their highest honor.
Now, I’m not sure if Star Wars Would really love to have Din Djarin on this show, especially after boba fett booksbut it seems like they’re really injecting some real potential into this Mandalorian appearance. The stars seemed to align a little too well, although as someone who often clowns with Din’s return to the galaxy, that might just be some extremely wishful thinking on my part. I think skeleton crew It’s still a great story without Din Djarin, but I certainly don’t think I’m just clowning anymore.
