Legal battle over disproportionate assets
In February 2020, the Chhattisgarh Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) registered an FIR against Singh and his wife Yasmeen Singh, who were accused of possessing disproportionate assets. While serving the Chhattisgarh government, Aman Kumar Singh established the YN Singh Memorial Foundation (Trust) and allegedly used the foundation to launder and invest money in Chhattisgarh Illegal funds obtained during this period. Aman and his brothers Aseem Singh and Arun Singh own one-third of the foundation. According to the allegations, Aman received large sums of money for the Naya Raipur project and cricket stadium construction, which he preferred to deposit into his offshore bank accounts through Dubai. He is said to have accumulated a total of Rs. Rs 10 crore was extorted from various sources including police, tax and corporates. The money was allegedly transferred to other Indian states to fund his brother’s company. Additionally, Aman and his family are alleged to own vast amounts of unaccounted land in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Delhi, Maharashtra and abroad. He is also said to have invested heavily in major projects such as Saudi Arabia’s “NEOM” and the Tunis Economic City. Aman Kumar Singh has reportedly purchased an apartment in Burj Khalifa, Dubai. The properties were said to have been purchased in the name of George Henry, adding to the list of charges against him. After resigning from the government service, Aman Kumar Singh joined RattanIndia Power. Despite the financial ruin of the company, he withdrew an annual salary of Rs. 6 crore, raising questions about the company’s ability to pay such a large amount. Aman Kumar Singh is also accused of paying deposits to major media outlets including India Today Group, Times Now Group and Republic in exchange for advertisements. He is alleged to have amassed a disproportionate amount of assets exceeding Rs. 2,500 crore, which does not appear to be consistent with his legitimate source of income. It is said that Aman’s wife Yasmin used official duties as an excuse to participate in various dance events in India and abroad. She is accused of purchasing land worth several crores of rupees under the alias Bindu Kumari Omanna Amma in prime locations such as Mandir Hasod in Chhattisgarh. In addition, she is suspected of having ties to multiple terrorist organizations and coordinating with them in various capacities. Aman Kumar Singh was involved in several scams and was allegedly involved in various fraudulent and dubious transactions related to illegal activities. For example, around Rs. Rs 300 million was transferred to Hong Kong in the guise of payment for unimported mining machinery. About Rs. Rs 8 crore was remitted to Feldspar, Dubai, but the funds were deposited into the account of Yasmeen Singh. Several benami properties located in Bhopal, Mandideep and Raithan were also transferred to the trust, raising further questions over the legality of Aman Kumar Singh’s transactions.
